Description

The plaintiff says defendant, his dad, wrecked his car after he loaned it to him. The accident was his father’s fault, so he’s suing him for the money he’s out of pocket. The defendant says his son is a hothead who hit him after he got into the fender-bender, but he didn’t press charges. He refuses to pay more, and he’s countersuing for the cost of emergency dental work.
Then, the plaintiff says she gave the defendant a deposit on some plumbing work she desperately needed because her yard was sinking, but the worker took too long and misdiagnosed a major problem with her pipes. She’s suing for her deposit back. The defendant says her worker was delayed because the city required permits for the job. She insists they deserve to be paid.
Plus, the plaintiff says the defendants are refusing to return his security deposit because he was caught smoking in the basement apartment one time. He says he made sure the place was clean when he left, so he’s suing for his money back. The defendants say they smelled smoke all the time and finally kicked him out. They claim the place reeked so badly of smoke that they had to have the floors and walls steamed and repainted.

For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with "The People’s Court Podcast." "The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian's decisions – based on current law – are final and binding. Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.
