Description

The plaintiff says he purchased a defective power steering pump for his car from the defendant, and he had to hire a mechanic for a new installation. He’s suing the defendant for the extra labor needed. The defendant argues she sent the first pump out to the manufacturer for inspection, and it came back with a clean bill of health. She refuses to pay for the unnecessary extra work.
The plaintiff says he agreed to rent a room in the defendant’s apartment. He paid the deposit but then realized he wasn’t comfortable living there because the electricity had been shut off. He told the defendant and asked for a refund. She refused, so he’s suing the woman for the amount he is owed. The defendant insists she told the plaintiff about the electricity from the start, and when she refused to pay back the deposit, the plaintiff allegedly threatened her.
The plaintiff says he purchased a hunk-of-junk used car from the defendant. It doesn’t have a good title, and he can’t get it registered. He’s suing the defendant for the cost of the car. The defendant argues that he told the plaintiff the car had some issues, and he signed the title over to him like he was supposed to. The defendant insists the plaintiff is just exaggerating the situation because he has buyer’s remorse.

"The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian's decisions – based on current law – are final and binding. Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.
