Description

The plaintiff says she rented a house from the defendant. Now that she’s out of the house, the defendant won’t return her security deposit. Now she’s suing for the security deposit she says she’s owed. The defendant says everything was fine until the plaintiff let her adult son move in. He was a mess who stunk up the place with pot smoke, forcing the defendant to have to repaint the entire place. The defendant says she owes nothing.
The plaintiff says she was swindled by the defendant after she bought a car from him that ended up being no good. Now she’s suing the defendant for the cost of the car. The defendant argues that the plaintiff test drove the car and had it looked at prior to bringing it into her personal mechanic. She just didn’t want the car anymore, so he shouldn’t have to pay her back.
The plaintiff says he plowed the defendant’s snowy driveway nine times, but he refuses to pay him. It’s been a year and he wants his gosh darn money, so he’s suing for the cost of the nine plows. The defendant argues that the plaintiff piled the snow onto his precious plants, destroying them in the process. The defendant is countersuing the plaintiff for the cost to replace his rhododendrons.

The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning "The People’s Court." For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with "The People’s Court Podcast." "The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian's decisions – based on current law – are final and binding. Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.
