The plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant, her landlord. Plus, the plaintiff let her son drive her car to drop off a friend at his house. He says the defendant ran into his car because she was speeding, and both cars got totaled. The plaintiff says the defendant refuses to pay for damages, so she’s suing. The defendant argues her cellphone slid off her dashboard and under her brake pad. She tried to reach for it while driving, then crashed into the plaintiff’s son. She says insurance already covered the damages.
