Description

The plaintiff is suing his aunt and cousin. The plaintiff moved in with the defendants because he got kicked out of his house. He claims his aunt and cousin stole his clothes and won’t pay him back, so he’s suing. The defendants argue the plaintiff stole things from their home when he moved in. They eventually had to evict him and get a restraining order. They’re countersuing for attorney fees, stolen property, and car damages.
Then, the plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant. She says her daughter tripped on a pothole on the property and broke her arm. The plaintiff sued the management company, but then they canceled her lease. She’s suing for the balance on a security deposit. The defendant argues the plaintiff caused thousands of dollars in damage in their apartment. She’s countersuing for additional repairs.
Plus, the plaintiff hired the defendant to install shades in her condo. She says she was watching television with her great-grandson one day and the shades came crashing down. She had to hire someone else to install new shades, so she’s suing for a reimbursement. The defendant thinks the plaintiff should blame the people who installed her window frames, not him.

"The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian's decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.
