This week's episode of The Sunday Shakeout is about how to monitor and control your running intensity in your training. As demonstrated in episode 21 of The Sunday Shakeout, how you distribute your running intensity throughout your training could make or break your running. However, that isn't the end of the story. Once you know how much of your training is going to be each zone, you must have someway to monitor and control your running to ensure it is at the right intensity. In this episode and next week's episode, I dive into monitoring and controlling running intensity from an input and an output standpoint. This week, I talk about input. With regards to training, input means how much physiological effort the body is putting into running. It is internal.

- Heart rate, lactate, and perceived effort
- How to use each method to your advantage and when to use them
