Description

This week's episode of The Sunday Shakeout is a continuation of last week's episode on self-assessment for distance runners. Before designing a training plan, you must ask yourself questions to gather bits of information to make sure that you are designing a plan that will maximize fitness gains, keep you healthy, and keep you happy. There are many different moving parts and pieces that should be a part of a training plan. The right way to apply them depends on your background, strengths, weaknesses, goals, and so on. Therefore, if you were to ask me to train you, I would send you a questionnaire and we would go from there with training. And if you are self-coached, it is crucial that you go through self-assessment effectively before you start planning workouts and mileage numbers. This sounds like a pretty sweet topic, but I find that many athletes and coaches don't know how to assess for future training cycles. There are 9 pillars to self-assessment and this week we go over the final 5. I hope you enjoy this episode of The Sunday Shakeout!
I will be reviewing:

Why self assessment is crucial for distance runners
The 9 what I like to call "pillars" of self-assessment are

Then, I will be discussing:

The nuts and bolts to the final five pillars to self-assessment
Tips for how to use the stuff that you got from self-assessment
And more
