Description

The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to build a patio for her. All was well at first, but the steps cracked over the winter. She claims the defendant ignored her calls, so she had to pay someone else to fix the deck. She’s suing for the cost of repairs. The defendant insists that the plaintiff is confusing him with someone else and says he’s not the one who built the patio.
Then, the plaintiff says he rented a room from the defendant, but the landlord won’t return the security deposit. He claims the defendant told him it’s because he let the landlord’s dog out. He’s suing to get the money back. The defendant claims the plaintiff was loud and disruptive, and says the other tenants complained about him.
Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant is her neighbor. She claims his two dogs attacked her and badly injured her dog, so she’s suing for the cost of medical and veterinary expenses. The defendant claims the plaintiff’s dog is vicious and attacked his dogs. He says it’s the plaintiff’s fault because both his dogs were leashed, while hers wasn’t. He is countersuing for pain and suffering.

For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with "The People’s Court Podcast." "The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian's decisions – based on current law – are final and binding. Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.
