Description

The plaintiff says she sold her car to her neighbor, the defendant. She claims he still hasn’t paid it off and refuses to give it back to her, so she’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff sold him the car for $1,500 and he paid in full. He alleges she drinks a lot and probably forgot. He’s countersuing for overpayment and aggravation.
Then, the plaintiffs say they rented an apartment from the defendant, but she unlawfully kept their security deposit when they moved out. They say they left the place in great condition, so they’re suing to get their deposit back. The defendant says she returned some of the deposit and kept the rest for repair and disposal costs.
Plus, the plaintiff says the uncaring defendants let their large dogs run loose. He claims one of them violently attacked his 5-pound dog, and she needed lifesaving surgery. He’s suing them for the vet bills. The defendants say the plaintiff claimed the attack took place a year before and demanded money. They insist their dogs are fenced in and have never gotten out.

"The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian's decisions – based on current law – are final and binding. Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.
