#008 On this week’s episode, we have Jared Jordan, a CrossFit Seminar Staff Member who co-owns CrossFit of Ithaca with his wife. In fact, Jared was one of the instructors at my Level 1 a while back. Jared who used to race bikes in a previous career describes how a near-fatal bike accident resulting in traumatic brain injury led to a downward spiral of depression, emotional issues, medications, a loss of identity, and mood swings, which he never fully recovered from which eventually led him to walk out on his wife and newborn son. Jared believed that his son deserved to be loved by someone who wanted to be his father. I don’t want to give away too much of this story, because it’s definitely a must-hear, but a big shout out to all the ladies out there who don’t quit on their men. Throughout this conversation you’ll hear:How Jared defines being the “Perfect Dad” How being present is just a part of being a perfect dadAnd that genuinely enjoying what you’re doing while your present with your kid is a far better experience for them in the long run. You’ll also hear Jared’s tips and tricks for anybody struggling to ease into shape And his go-to workouts when pressed for time. You’ll want to stick around to the end of the show where we discuss how longevity is the name of the game if you want to be able to keep up with your kids throughout their childhood.
