Description
"Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay." (Acts 2:26-27)These words are from a sermon that Peter is preaching to the locals of Jerusalem who had just crucified Jesus seven weeks earlier before he resurrected. After He ascended to heaven 40 days later, the Apostles were left to explain His message to the locals. In order to do that, Peter quotes David and the locals know David's words because they're part of their Scriptures. This is from one of the songs they sing so Peter connects the dots for them. Jesus is the one who didn't see corruption He raised from the dead. David also said Jesus brought Him gladness and joy and hope. That's true for us to hear how we aren't abandoned to the grave either. What a savior! He's where the joy is!
