Description
"He was about to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified." (Mark 6:48-50)Late one night, Jesus and His disciples out on a boat to go to the other side of the sea which was the Gentile side, generally viewed as enemy territory. Then their boat hits a storm and Jesus is watching from a mountain and He walks out on the water to meet them. Just hours earlier, He multiplied loaves and fish to feed roughly 15000 people. Here he is demonstrating his power over creation again, but they don't know it's Him. Of course, they're terrified. I once heard a preacher say that sometimes what we perceive as terrifying or threatening may actually be God moving among us. So Jesus encourages them, "Don't be afraid, it's me." He's with them and He's with you. He's where the joy is!
