Description

"So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them." Matthew 6:31-32 There are lots of things in life that we can be anxious about. For Jesus' followers, some of their very real concerns are food and clothing. They're mostly poor people, but Jesus keeps reminding them that their Father will provide for them. Then Jesus compares them to the Gentiles, which refers to the pagans in His day who don't know and worship God. He basically says that godless people are the kind of people who are worried about these things and it's not fitting at all for God's kids to share that concern because the God of the universe is their Father. He owns everything and He will meet their needs. Our Father is attentive and generous, and he is where the joy is!
