Description
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” (Acts 2:36)These words are from a sermon Peter is preaching to the locals of Jerusalem who had just crucified Jesus. Peter doesn't mince words here. He wants them to understand the magnitude of what they've done. Jesus is the Messiah they've been waiting for and they crucified him. But make no mistake, Jesus died willingly. He surrendered to the Father's plan for redemption, and His death was the hinge point of the plan. The Jews begged for His death and the Romans killed him. But our sin was the reason for his death. He was paying the penalty for your sins and mine. He lived the perfect life. We couldn't. Then He gave us His righteousness in exchange for our penalty. If we don't acknowledge the weight of our sin, we miss the great glory of what Jesus did for us. He's where the joy is!
