Description
“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross." (Acts 2:22-23)In this section of Scripture, Peter is addressing the locals of Jerusalem who had crucified Jesus just seven weeks earlier. Jesus rose from the dead, then walked on Earth for 40 days after his resurrection before He ascended to Heaven. So roughly ten days before this sermon, the resurrected Jesus ascended and His apostles were left to explain His message to the locals. Peter starts out with the bad news, you killed Jesus. But honestly, that's where all our stories start, because we were all born into sin. He died to pay for our sins. What a generous savior! He is where the joy is!
