Description

(John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) - (John 1:15)This passage is talking about who Jesus is. One of the first people to recognize Jesus as the Messiah was John the Baptist, who also happens to be Jesus' cousin. John the Baptist started his ministry before Jesus did, and he spent his days telling people that the Messiah would be showing up on the scene soon. John didn't promote his own ministry. In fact, he acknowledged that Jesus' ministry was superior to his because Jesus was preaching about Himself. John also pointed out that Jesus has always existed. John was slightly older than Jesus in age, but Jesus is eternal because Jesus is God. He existed before, He was born in a manger, and He still exists now, reigning in Heaven. He is our eternal king and he is where the joy is!
