    Synopsis

    Lucas Tanners

My grumpy attitude drew my father’s attention, and I had to confess about Natalie. My confession soon made me realize I was sitting on useful information for a long-time debt. Natalie’s crime was going to be avenged, yet the thought of what it meant for my unborn child unsettled everything.

    Amanda Vans

Handling my loss through therapy was becoming better. I arrived home that day to discover our home chef was gone. Tempted to pick a new one, I had to hand the ropes to Craig. Once beaten with Bella’s drama, ten times shy. I just hope Craig doesn’t take on another broken soul.

    Cassidy Adams

Evangeline and Sarah joined in the course, and with their help, Jake and I were finally able to get the world to see Mayor McGill for the monster he truly was. What is left now, is to find out what happened to my sister’s baby. And that means, I have to search for the one man I swore never to have anything to do with, Finch Martinez.

    CHAPTER ONE

    {Lucas}

I do not want this disgusting food! I yelled at the chef, tossing the dish off the table. The cutlery's clattering was nothing compared to the dishes' smashing as it fell to pieces on the floor.

Sir, you always prefer oatmeal and pancakes with blueberries for breakfast, the chef said, avoiding my eyes.

I do not want it this morning or ever! Don’t you get it? I replied in a grumpy voice.

Should I make something else for you? Name it, sir, the lady tactfully offered.

Get out of my face this minute! Out!! I screamed in response, so much so, that she jumped, then ran out of the dining room.

Lucas! That was Graham. I stood up immediately and turned away from the door. I had been making everyone miserable for days now, and I knew it was about time my father stepped in.

Lucas! You heard me? he called again, just as he stepped into the room. Turn around, son. Face me, he said, his steps getting closer.

I did as he asked but avoided his eyes. Good morning, Dad, I said, suddenly calm.

Now your voice can be calm and cool? I could hear you yelling at the poor girl on my floor. What is going on? This yelling and grumpy mood seems to be the new trend for days now. Graham said in his usual subtle tone, making me feel bad for a minute.

I didn’t respond. I had nothing to say. Natalie broke me and caught me in a spiraling situation that I couldn’t get out of, no matter how hard I tried.

Son. Talk to me, Graham begged. He reached for my head, turned it to face him, and then he walked to a seat. Indulge your old man. Is it something to do with the company?

No, Dad, I said, shaking my head.

    Then talk to me.

I messed up again, Dad. I hate that this is becoming a pattern for me, I started. Graham nodded, waiting for the actual topic.

Natalie… the corporate attorney, is pregnant by me.

Graham broke into a deep smile, so cheeky, I almost forgot this was a complicated story. "I know you want grandkids so bad,
