Her Billionaire Man Book 5 - Chaos - Olivia Summer

    Blurb

    AMANDA

With Rita’s unending plots to fight dirty with my fiancé, the happy-ever-after wedding I had been looking forward to, seems to be more and more of a wish. I was not only being shot at but also embroiled in the drama she brought to the table. And when the end of the tunnel was finally in sight, it was nothing but another scheme, this time from the company that had been willed to me as co-owner.

    CRAIG

Because of my ex, I lost everything while defending my biological claim and saving my company’s legacy. Rita had other wrecking plans in check, pulling me further away from my bride-to-be. Just when I thought karma was birthing its revenge on Rita, my bride-to-be seemed to get dragged into a drama of her own.

    Chapter One

    Amanda’s POV

Everything was happening too fast, way too fast, for me to keep up with; it was barely some seconds, while I was cupping my hands over my mouth, reading the breaking news of the Vans stock losing value along with Craig, when I felt a sudden pain in my right shoulder. The blood wouldn’t stop oozing from the impact.

I didn’t need anyone telling me it was a gunshot. Being my first time getting shot didn’t stop this reality. But there was no sound; gunshots made so much noise … or was it only in the movies? Then I started to fall, and my legs became jelly under me, unable to hold me up. I was grateful Craig was there to hold me as I slumped into him, bathing his shirt in my blood.

He was equally shocked to see me drenched in blood. I heard the tires screeching behind my poor Boosh making a loud noise, and us. I remembered Craig carrying me in his arms and running off; I didn’t know where he was headed, and his repeated heart-piercing cry "stay with me baby … please stay with me" kept ringing in my head and kept me conscious.

I wanted so badly to stay with him and tried hard to keep my eyes open, but I must have lost too much blood to stay alert. I felt numb, and in so much pain. His voice and Boosh’s were the last things I remember before everything went gray.

When my eyes felt a tingling sensation, I tried to open them, but they felt quite heavy and painful. After several attempts, I stopped trying and let my ears and nose work instead. I could hear machines beeping, and the smell my nostrils picked up was metallic and chemical …. I was on a bed, not soft enough to be Craig’s and mine.

It felt small, too, when I tried to roll over. Pain rushed through my shoulder, and it was bandaged down to my elbow and clamped around my neck .... Confused about where I was, I struggled to get my eyes open, and I succeeded. For a few seconds, they fluttered open and white light flooded them, harsh and a bit too bright for me to hold my eyes open for long. I shut them immediately. My brain finally got the message as to where I was: in the hospital.

I heard the door open and close gently, then footsteps approaching. The musky male fragrance of the
