Well, we solved the office thieving case faster than I thought, yet I couldn’t get over it. Shantel was involved somehow, and the phone cloning just proved me right. But then fucking the boss was even more distracting.

Zachary still has no idea I was stringing him along in his plans which were awesome for my child’s safety, but I doubt how much more of his disgusting commands I can stomach. Shantel, my best friend, is also acting strangely.  Her former employer had nothing good to say about her, and that was weird.

Chapter One

{Amanda’s POV}

Perhaps it was mere coincidence that morning, but I found myself in front of the laptop, looking up some crazy pet-bugging methods to keep our home safe from Zac. Half my subconscious mind had been nursing this idea since I returned from Tracy’s. We looked around to check for the bugs at her place to no avail that day, before deciding to use them against him.

How did that bastard get the house bugged? I asked into the wind since I was the only one in the house. Craig had rushed out for an impromptu appointment in town, one I was more than elated to be excused from when he told me.

Madison was away on her fashion trip to Italy, so I had all the space to myself. Then I remembered I had a tech-sis for a best friend and rolled over on the bed to fetch my phone. She picked up the second it rang.

Mrs. Craig Vans, to what do I owe this early call? Is Mr. Vans not kissing that ass enough?Melissa giggled in my ear.

For an early riser like you, giggling so early is still odd. What are you doing awake?  I asked, hugging Craig’s pillow over my chest. His fragrance filled my nostrils, warming me up like he was beside me.

Because unlike some of us who’ve got their Prince Charming now, we have to fend for some cash to survive, she replied.
