It takes blood and guts
I’m sitting on Skin’s terrace in Ibiza, soaking up the late summer sunshine via the magic of the internet. It’s the closest I’ve come to travel since the start of the panny danny and looking out my window at the dark Edinburgh sky, I’ll take all the sun I can get, virtual or otherwise.
If 2020’s twists and turns have taken a toll on Skin, it doesn’t show. The DJ, activist, fashion icon and two-time DIVA cover star is positively glowing – looking happy, healthy and far younger than 53. In fact, she’s quite enjoying some of the silver linings from this brave new world we’ve found ourselves in. “I know it’s lovely to be in a room with someone and get nuances, but actually it opens out a whole new world for doing interviews. Imagine going all the way down to London just to see me…” She’s one of the few people I would make the journey for at the moment, I tell her. The? You can be there and I can be here and we can chat. I think that’s lovely. I’m trying to find positives from Covid, and a positive from Covid is it’s trained people that they can do so much stuff from the comfort of their own home. We don’t have to waste petrol and fly everywhere.”
