I grew up in South Yorkshire, England, before emigrating to South Australia at the age of sixteen. My writing ambitions began as a child, when I became notorious in my class for writing short horror stories that would probably have them calling in the child psychologists nowadays! I have written everything from non-fiction ebooks to published short fiction, and served as script editor on two proposed horror feature film scripts for an LA based director. In terms of fiction I have written dozens of novellas, including more than 70 stories in the "Ian's Gang" sci-fi adventure series. I still live in Queensland, where I work as a freelance writer.

CHAPTER ONE

Hold it right there! Scott yelled.

In a back alley of Maltby, the gang surrounded their quarry.

Matthew stepped forth. As temporary leader of Ian's Gang, I order you to throw down your weapon and surrender!

Oh do you, your Majesty? Alexander Petrov was an icy Assessis agent who had arrived in Maltby to kill a defector the gang had been protecting. Even now, at the end, he was as cool as ice. Well, let me tell you something, he looked around at the gang with contempt, every one of you is dead. You arrest me and your termination will be ordered immediately. Do not cross the glorious Assessis Empire!

Glorious nothing, Steve spat. A bunch of petty psychopaths with inflated egos and microscopic penises.

Oh, good one, Steve, Matthew observed. The pot calling the kettle black, to be sure, but a good one nonetheless.

Bite me, Steve retorted.

Later, perhaps, Matthew quipped. Agent Petrov - lower your weapon or I'll blow you into the next life. I care not for your petty threats. Assessis is nothing but a dog turd in the Universe, and I am the pooper-scooper!

You said it, Steve guffawed.

Your team lack respect, Petrov snarled, not to mention discipline. If they were in my team -

We'd all be psychotics with a fetish for women's underwear, Matthew cut in.

I've got a fetish for women's underwear, Philip confessed, especially when women are wearing 'em.

Do you take nothing seriously? Petrov demanded. Is your life one big joke?

No, Philip snapped, mock-offended. It's a series of little ones.

Drop your weapon, Petrov, Matthew ordered, "or I'll kill you.
