    Introduction

Hello everyone! I’m Dr. Margaret Rutherford, and this is Look Up at the Clouds: Embracing the Power of Change, a course from Scribd. Thank you for joining me. Let’s begin.

Change, whether it’s welcome and wanted or unwelcome and difficult, involves stress. Even when you want change in your life, it’s hard to give up what’s familiar and take a risk on the unfamiliar. Even if it’s unhealthy or unpleasant, you at least know you can tolerate what’s already happening in the now.

Even when we do finally commit to making a change, we often find that the hard work is just beginning and that making the change stick is its own battle altogether. So many people want to change but start off with a plan that's way too difficult or hard to reach and doesn’t account for the many bumps in the road that might send us back into our old patterns.

This course is designed to teach you all about change -- why it can be so hard and how you can start taking steps today to create lasting, desired change in your life and work through unwanted, unexpected change.

It is my hope that you will learn both action-oriented and reflective exercises and come away with a journal full of fresh insights, guidance on affecting real change in your life, and support for taking risks that improve the quality of your life.

We’ll start by learning how to face change. Whether you’re seeking out change or looking for strategies to
