When a leader says it is lonely at the top, what they are saying, without realizing it, is that they have failed to lead well.
I'm sure they're not thinking that. It is their way of wanting others to somewhat feel sorry for them and to exercise patience with them; give them some grace.
Other leaders have heard the phrase parroted and may have simply adopted without giving it much thought as to what it possible means.
In this episode, I dismantled this readily accepted mantra and provided an alternative way of looking at "at the top" leadership.
