    Foreword

    Quite grown up now, but a few years back,

    I was in a tug of war with health, nutrition and most importantly food! Things have changed a bit but still I experience being stuck some day or the other as I face new queries about my food and kitchen stuff in my daily routine. I am not in the best shape and struggle many times with my weighty issues but in the whole feud and learning, I am thorough and confirmed about certain things that go a certain definite way and that is for sure, at least as per my research on my own self. The things I state in this book are Hence proved on myself. The Food facts shared in this book are highly influenced by the meals and  surroundings I have been born and brought up with. They may not exactly be on your terms but at least these are facts and can be a good insight if you are sailing in the same boat. Right?

    My process is in stepwise manner- liking food, consuming it in a certain fashion, some limited experimentation, thorough analysis, little research and deriving results, insights and self made facts.

    Knowing things, applying the information and then rekindling  facts that work or fail is the whole vicious circle of efforts. And it does help, for sure.     CHAPTER 2

    TEA V/S COFFEE

    BOTH TEA AND COFFEE were introduced a long time ago, especially in a country like India. Today they form an inseparable part of daily routine throughout the world.

    Actually if consumed in moderate amounts, both are quite safe.

    Both tea and coffee contain caffeine and are rich sources of antioxidants.Tea specifically contains L-theanine and caffeine also while coffee has a comparatively ample caffeine amount. Tea slowly boosts alertness and energy while coffee quickly kickstarts the energy level.

    Caffeine is a good element and keeps one protected from many ailments like type 2 diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, inflammation states like arthritis etc.

    Caffeine amounts vary in tea and coffee. It is around 40 mg in a cup of tea while around 80 mg in a cup of coffee. If consumed around 300 mg, caffeine does show adverse signs and symptoms like nausea, insomnia, anxiety and diarrhoea, etc.

    Tea has additional L-Theanine which metabolises caffeine has provides sustained moderate effect while coffee is richer in antioxidants more than tea like chlorogenic, ferulic and coumaric acids. Their main role is to protect against cellular damage via oxidation.
