    This section of the book is a product of my own experiments and experiences  with food at one phase of time in life  when I was Trying to lose little weight in a swift and spry manner.

    CHAPTER 1

    INTRODUCTION

    Igot interested in diets five years back during my post graduation. The attraction was very sudden and powerful.

    I was experimenting with many diets with the goal to lose weight. I was overweight on account of lack of knowledge and ignorance and also lack of enthusiasm.

    But slowly and steadily I completely transformed this picture of mine into a totally opposite one.

    I first and foremost became aware, gained knowledge, enlightened myself and learnt to maintain positivity, patience and enthusiasm while applying the knowledge in practical and real terms.

    If any of these ingredients in your attitude are missing, the diet will not work. That is again my learning from experience.

    CHAPTER 2

    DO’S AND DON'TS OF A DIET

    For a diet to work , the do’s list is:

    Be positive

    Relax

    Trust the diet

    Follow without brains

    Sleep well

    Drink enough water

    Take all the meals

    Keep a cheat day

    Communicate with yourself

    Communicate with dietitian

    FOR A DIET TO WORK, the don'ts list is:

    Don't eat at once

    Don't eat a lot at a time

    Don't skip meals

    Don’t cheat unplanned

    Don't feel guilty of an outing

    Don't think much

    Don't take stress

    Don't be obsessed with diet

    Don't be too proud if you lose weight

    Don't talk about weight loss much/often

    Well, these are the points to be strictly followed while doing any diet and to make the diet work.

    CHAPTER 3

    WHAT ARE FAD DIETS?

    FAD diets are in fact shortcut diets or bypass diets. Sounds quite interesting? But they have their limitations and challenges.

    To define a FAD Diet, I can just say:

    When any nutrient/ingredient/food component is cut/stopped in a diet, then such diets are known as FAD Diets.

    Secondly, I can define it as:

    When any one one or two types of ingredient/ food component/nutrient is given in a diet while other nutrients are avoided, then such a diet is known as FAD Diet.

    What actually happens?

    With FAD Diet, there is true loss of bone, muscle and water weight and to your utter surprise, there is minimal or no loss of fat weight. A kind of metabolic shock or calorie shock is created inside the body of the recipient and some new food ingredient/component is introduced which works to kickstart the metabolism of the recipient in a novel fashion so that weight loss is hastened in an  effective manner.

    For your knowledge, you should know some statistics:

    What are Low calorie diets (LCD)?

    These diet strange from 1000-1200 K calories

    What are Very Low Calorie Diets (VLCD)?

    These diets range from 250 to 1000 K calories.

    Important points about these diets:

    Such diets are given under strict clinical or medical supervision in conditions of bypass surgeries or severe diarrhoea,etc.

    The normal fat percentage for women is about 18-20% while it's 22-25% for men. Weight loss is preferred in a Step Ladder Pattern where slowly the output calories are decreased in order to match the input calories or vice versa.

    LCD & VLCD plans should always be associated with multivitamins supplements as mandatory to provide complete nutrition to the patient.

    Black salt/Pink Himalayan salt should be added to these diets.

    CHAPTER 4

    DETOX/ONE/SINGLE INGREDIENT FAD DIETS.

    BANANA DIET PLAN

    Best results For ages up to 35 years and for fit people

    Duration-1 or 2 days maximum

    Expected weight loss- 2 to 3 kg weight loss

    Method- Start empty stomach and in whole day-

    For females:  a total of 6 bananas along with unsweetened milk and two green teas are to be taken.

    For males: a total of 8 bananas along with 750 ml of unsweetened milk with two green teas are to be taken

    Bananas are a very good source of potassium. This is a very good detox diet plan and there is noticed increased urination.

    Precautions-

    Low BP Patients should avoid or use with great caution

    -  as they may feel weakness/dizziness in the evening. They can add black salt on bananas and then eat to balance blood pressure.
