When he has fallen down in business and in extreme difficulties, the businessman Someswaram has a dream. In that dream an evil power, camel-headed man Gazira appeared to him and made a proposal to him. That proposal was; Someswaram has to agree to give birth to one of his queens Ambola who committed suicide and after that girl attains her eighteenth year Gazira would take her away from Someswaram. Someswaram must not try to prevent Gazira from taking that girl from him then. In response to that Gazira would make Someswaram that much rich that he could not even imagine.

Someswaram agreed to that proposal, his wife at her forty-fifth year gave birth to a girl who was named as Sukanya and someswaram very well knew who she was. What he did not guess at all was that he would develop lots and lots of love and affection on that girl. He told about his dream to only two people one to his son Sasikanth and two to his wife's sister Susmitha, the psychiatrist. The sudden richness in their life made Someswaram and Sasikanth completely believe that dream was not just a dream but to the psychiatrist Susmitha it was just a dream always.

Chapter-1

H ow happily we have celebrated our daughter’s birthday on this day! We did that much it is not like her birthday but her marriage! after finishing of the celebration of their only daughter Sukanya’s birthday, when all the family members settled in the huge hall, her mother Madhuri said.

We have planned for it for more than one week. How it is going to be otherwise? her only brother Sasikanth said. Anyhow she is my only sister and borne nearly after fifteen years of my birth.

May be I am fifteen years younger to you. While her brother’s gaze hovering on her face, with her usual charming smile on her face Sukanya said. Don’t forget I am also enough old. I have celebrated my eighteenth birthday.

How can I forget that it is your eighteenth birthday? her father Sarveswarm said as if he was mumbling to himself. It is the day I am feeling lot of fear that we have to face even we know that we cannot escape.

So, bava you did not forget about that foolish dream and the agreement you made in it despite my saying again and again to you that it is just your dream and never come true. Susmitha, sister of Madhuri and a psychiatrist, who sat beside him at that time said to him with an irritating expression in her face.

Something is going on between you both finding them both talking like that, Sukanya dragged her chair near to them and said. Am I not privy to this?

Certainly. We both are talking how it is if we involve you also in our business matters from now on. Anyhow you also took your engineering degree and became eighteen years old. Looking into her face with a serious expression Sarveswaram said.

But dad I am an engineering graduate! How can I be helpful to you in your business matters? Sukanya said irritatingly. She did not like what her father said and she knew that was not her dad and aunt talked till that moment.

No, problem. It is not a difficult thing to an intelligent girl like you to pick up in business matters. Susmitha said. Because of your intelligence you have promoted in your classes and could complete your engineering by your eighteenth year itself.

Yes, dear nodding his head Someswaram said. You know how much big our business has become so far. In fact we need lot of engineering graduates also for our business now. Moreover your brother and I cannot look after all the matters. In addition to the technical work, you have to look after administrative matters also. I am seriously contemplating to involve you in our business matters and I know you would not say ‘no’ if I request you.

Dad, shall we discuss about all these matters early in the morning? It is eleven thirty and I am feeling sleepy. Yawning heavily Sukanya said.

Alright then. But be prepared to a full-fledged discussion on tomorrow morning. Somewswaram said.

Okay dad. Sukanya nodded her head in agreement and went away from that place.

Sarveswaram and Susmitha looked into each other’s faces with smiles.

Sometimes I myself feel confusion! Even I am not a psychiatrist like you, I am also a post graduate in business administration. I still can remember how we were on that day. Leaning back in the chair and closing his eyes, Someswaram said and gave a small pause.  

You were completely broke and just don’t know what to do. You were with full of debts and it was not just no one was coming forward to help you financially but your creditors were pressing you to pay their debts back. I still can remember how much desperate you have become then. Susmitha said.

No surprise that you remembered all this as you preferred to stay with us all the time giving us the little courage you always could. Someswaram laughed. On the night of that day, I think it was two or so, I got that dream. That camel-headed male naked body! It appeared before me and surprisingly words were coming out of its mouth. It said to me if I agree with one thing it says, it shall see not only all my problems will be solved but I do become very much rich. He paused once again.

It was not the first time that he explained that to her but every time he explained it to her he did it with same fear and same emotion.

I was very much desperate and ready to clutch even a straw that may come in my way. Immediately I agreed and asked that camel-headed man what should I do?

Then it said to you that one of its queens took birth to you. You have to look after her until she completes her eighteenth year. After the completion of her eighteenth year, on one day she would be taken away from you. In the small pause that Someswaram has given, Susmitha said again.

Some more matters also we both have talked on that day.

All those things you have told me previously and everytime you said this, I have responded to you in the same way. Susmitha angrily said. How can I convince you that it was just a dream and you need not take it seriously at all?

If nothing has happened after that dream, I would have been convinced with what you have said. Someswaram said. Just consider the incidents those have taken place! Your sister and I wanted another kid and tried for it for a long time and gave it up in vain. But after my agreement in that dream, at her forty fifth year or so, your sister has become pregnant and gave birth to a girl!

Oh, god! Susmitha laughed and said There are women who gave birth to children at their seventieth year also. There is always a fifty-fifty chance that the baby to be a girl or boy. That much gape in between children also is not uncommon.

But quite surprisingly, some of the creditors who did not believe till that moment came forward and helped me financially. It is indeed difficult to flourish that much in that business in such a short span of time but it has happened like that! Just in one year from the day of my agreement with that camel-headed man everything has been changed! I became very much rich and famous! as if he did not hear what Susmitha has said, Someswaram said.

Why cannot you believe it was because of your intelligence and cleverness? It was not the first time to you to do business and got success in it. while looking into his face with knitted brows Susmitha asked him.

No, it was not because of my cleverness and intelligence! I really can sense something behind my development like that.

Now you are feeling fear that camel-headed man may claim Sukanya from us.   

Exactly that is my fear! as he could not sit in his chair anymore Someswaram got off from it. After my agreement with it in my dream on that day so, I did not see it anywhere, anytime. But I still can remember what it has said to me on that day.

Relax bava Susmitha also got off from the chair she sat and put her hand on his right shoulder. Whether your agreement with that camel-headed man true or not, there is no use in feeling fear. We do worry about it if that camel headed-man appears to you again and claim Sukanya. Just be happy till that moment.

Someswaram was about to say something but then his wife Madhuri came to him. My brother Sudarshan and his wife want to go home early morning tomorrow. She said.

I did not ask them even to come. I have no objection whenever they want to go away from here. with an irritating expression in his face Someswaram said.

This is not at all the way that you should talk about my brother and his wife. Don’t forget they helped us a lot at one time in the past. Madhuri angrily said.

And you people did enough help back to them Susmitha said. Even our brother is not that much bad, we know about the cunning nature of his wife Sulochana. She has all the evil plans in her mind all the time and our brother just agrees to whatever she say without thinking much. That is why brother in law don’t like them much.

It is not at all nice talking in such a way. Anyhow Sukanya is going to be their daughter in law. Madhuri said.

Enough Madhu Someswaram angrily yelled. I never do agree that Sukanya to become the daughter in law of your brother. How anyone can agree to make his only daughter wife of a nincompoop like Mallick?

But I made the promise to those people and how can I take it back now? with a worrying and angry expression in her face Madhuri said.

Someswaram has become even more angry and about to say something more but then Sudarshan and his wife Sulochana came there. Someswaram has to change his facial expression with force.

We want to stay some more days here but there are very pressing matters to attend. So we both are going tomorrow. With a smile on her lips Sulochana said which irritated Someswaram and Susmitha in equal measure.

I understood that. So I asked them to keep Mallick in our home for some days and they agreed. Madhuri said.

It irritated Someswaram even more but he remained silent.

I very much like that Mallick learn all the business techniques from you. Please give him some job and guide him. I shall be very much grateful to you for that. Sudarshan said.

I do try. Someswaram said and went away from that place.

Sudarshan indeed did some help to Someswaram’s family while they were in very much trouble. So Someswaram could not completely deny the wish of his wife and her brother.

Slowly the remaining people there also retired from that place into their respective rooms to sleep the rest of the night.

It was eight in the morning and Sukanya woke up a little late. She felt irritated as she woke up late like that as she planned to go to her friend Mounika at nine on that day. It would be atleast half an hour journey from her home to that Mounika’s home and Mounika said she would not wait for her if she did not come to her home exactly by nine. There was no wrong on Mounika’s part in saying so as Sukanya has been habituated to become late to programs. They both have to go to the home of their friend Neelima from there and there along with other friends they would decide what to do to enjoy.

We all have qualified in our engineering exams with flying colors. We just don’t know what destinations our lives take from now on and when we all can meet again like this. So for the last time in our lives, all of us do have an enjoyment together. We shall discuss about it together tomorrow at my home. Neelima said on the day before at their college when they all met there.

None of them could see anything to deny that idea and it was Mounika who first agreed to that proposal. Sukanya was her very best friend and it was agreed between them both that to Sukanya would first go to Mounika’s home and from there they both would go to Neelima’s home where they were all planned to meet.

Atleast you have to wake me up early. I told you about my plan. While she was going into bathroom, Sukanya encountered her mother and said to her angrily.

I am busy in my work. Don’t think that you are the only family member in this house. Your father and brother would go to their office and I have to make preparations for them also. I cannot leave everything onto the servants. Sukanya’s mother Madhuri also was equally angry.

Without saying anything to her Sukanya went into the bathroom, took the toothbrush, put paste on that and brushing her teeth with that was quite automatic on her part. Her mind was with several thoughts and in some corner of her mind she was still irritating as she became late like that. As per her plan she has to be in that Mounika’s home by now itself chatting about this and that with her and her brother Sadan!

Her whole heart filled with a thrill feeling when she remembered about Sadan. Sadan studied engineering, doing a job and quite useful to Mounika and her family also.

My brother was not treated well in the beginning. My mom was quite cruel to him at one time. It was just because he is not her own son. My brother is the son of my dad’s first wife. I still can remember how ill-treated he has been in my home in his childhood. I don’t think he forgot all about that. On one day Mounika said to Sukanya.

Sukanya came to know about Mounika and her family only after her friendship with Mounika in engineering college. Mounika told about her family and herself to Sukanya and Sukanya also did so. On many occasions Mounika took Sukanya to her home and Sukanya took her to her home also. At her second visit or so to Mounika’s home, it happened that Sadan was at home and Sukanya looked at him.

There was no doubt that Sadan was a handsome personality and any girl would be attracted towards him immediately. In the same way Sukanya was also attracted towards him immediately and she did not feel surprise for that. What indeed made her feel surprise was, she just could not understand the deep inner feeling of her! It was just like that she has known him for a long time and there was a strong relationship between them both. Sukanya tried to remember whether she had seen him at anytime before but however hard she thought she could not remember she had seen him before that day.

We are thinking to perform your marriage with Mallick as soon as possible. After the announcement of her engineering results, her mother Madhuri said. You have completed your engineering and now you are a major also.

Mallick was her cousin, the son of her mother’s brother and her mother was wishing too much to perform her marriage with that guy just because of the promise she made to her brother.

But mom.... Even Sukanya has not seen Sadan and attracted towards him like that she would have resisted this much with her mother about that decision. I heard that marriage between the close relatives is not good thing. And that Mallick is just a rascal and you too know about it.

Shut your bloody mouth her mother said irritatingly. Marriage of you both was decided a long time back. There is no way that it not happens now. You are going to marry Mallick and that is all.

Sukanya knew why her mother was that much adamant to perform her marriage with that Mallick. Her brother Sudarshan provided finance to Sukanya’s father Someswaram along with some other people at one time when he was left with no money to start some business. Then Sukanya’s father started business, Madhuri gave birth to Sukanya and Someswaram has become so much rich and famous. In those days, when Sukanya was just six years or so aged, her brother Sudarshan took word from his sister that Sukanya’s marriage would be performed with Mallick.  Even Sukanya also was grateful for the help her uncle did to her family, she was not at all interested in marrying Mallick from the beginning as Mallick was not only a fool but has all types of vices also. 

Suddenly she came out of her thinking and stopped what she was doing. The toothbrush touched one tooth rather violently which was moving recently and it came out. Sukanya’s heart missed a beat, she took it into her palm and started observing it. It was lower left side molar tooth and was moving for the last fifteen days or so she did not know why.

Just don’t touch it with your tongue and it will once again settle slowly. When she said it to Mounika she said.

Sukanya tried all the time not to disturb that tooth with her tongue but she could not remain like that. Quite unknowingly and unintentionally she started disturbing that tooth with the tip of her tongue, it became even more and more loosened and came out like this.

My god! I lost my tooth! I lost something which is part of me for the last eighteen years or so. Sukanya mumbled in herself.

In fact, from the moment the tooth was loosened and moving, there was a sort of uneasiness in Sukanya which she could not understand. She was feeling fear that it might come out at any moment and it just happened like that on that day.

How long you shut yourself in that bathroom? You said that you have to go out early as you have some plan. She heard her mother’s yelling from outside.

Then Sukanya forcefully came out of her thinking and placed the tooth in her hand on the window-sill there. Then she put herself into bathing after making herself completely naked. But she was completely unmindful of what she was doing. She did not know why but she was maximum upset that her tooth came out so. It was another fifteen minutes or so by the time she finished her bathing and came out. While she was going into her room, she encountered her parents.

I lost one of my teeth and I put it on the window-sill in the bathroom. She said to her mother. Her saying like that was quite unintentional and she did not know why she said like that.

Is it is something that you need to tell me like this! with an irritating expression in her face, Madhuri said and went away

Someswaram also went away from that place as if he did not hear anything.

Sukanya went into the room, opened the wardrobe and selected a dress from it to wear herself, then her cell phone rang.

Have you started? It is already nine here. when she answered the call Mounika said.

I will be ten minutes or so late. I could not wake up on this day at the usual time. Sukanya mumbled.

Have you started yet or not? Mounika yelled.

I am coming there, don’t worry. Without saying anything more Sukanya cut off the call.

Y ou are worrying about such a simple thing! How silly! when Mounika heard what Sukanya said, she said laughing loudly.

She went by a taxi as it has become already late and Sukanya was one and half hours late by the time she reached Mounika’s home. Mounika was very much irritated but when their friends also came late to the rendezvous place, she was relaxed but not Sukanya was. She just could not forget about her losing the tooth and she did not know why she was worrying about it like that.

I cannot say why but from the moment I lost it, I have been feeling very much upset. In fact, I have been feeling uneasy from the moment it has been loosened. I think it is just because I lost something which is part of me for eighteen years! Sukanya said.

Eighteen years! How can you say it like that? Mounika knitted her brows together.

I am eighteen years old. So that tooth also was with me for eighteen years. With an irritating expression in her face Sukanya said.

Mounika once again started laughing loudly on hearing that.

Don’t laugh like that. I get irritation.

Just see with difficulty Mounika stopped her laughing and said. You did not take birth with teeth. At your one year or so I think you started having your milk teeth. Some years after losing them, you started having your present teeth I cannot say exactly when. So your lost tooth age is not your present age.

Anyhow it is for a long time with me and I lost it like this on this day. With a worrying expression on her face Sukanya said.

Listen friends. Both of them stopped their talking and looked at the side the voice has come. Neelima in whose house they all have met started saying something. There are two plans in fact. We have to decide which one we can follow.

We are all just very much eager to hear what they are! Mounika said with excitement.

One, we can go to a movie first, then to a restaurant and then to our homes from there. Two... she paused from a moment and said. you all know that in this town we have a garden and a big house in that. We can go into that garden and house and enjoy ourselves there.

But you quite often say that your parents don’t like much your going either into that garden or that house. Ragini said. Not just you, even your parents also never do go either into that garden or house.

There is thrill in doing forbidden things, is it is not? Neelima laughed and said. My parents are not at home and there is no problem at all.

The people assembled there started mumbling in themselves.

I want to be frank with you. I just don’t know why but I want very much that we all go into that house and garden. I am thinking that there shall be lots and lots of enjoyment to us there. After few seconds’ pause Neelima said again.

Movies and restaurants are routine things. The latter is most interesting to me. Murali said. "Once you are also feeling like that, the latter is most preferable.

Yes, as we boys also are with you girls, there is no necessity to you to feel fear.Anand said.

Just remember! Our girls are not cowards as you are thinking. We don’t need you there to feel brave. Parimala said.

Alright, alright. I am sorry. Anand said.

Are all of you of the same opinion? Then can we opt for going into our garden and house? Neelima asked them all.

First tell me, why your parents are not interested in your going into that garden or house? Sukanya asked. Is their forbidding you without any reason?

I cannot say anything about that. Neelima sighed heavily and said. They just asked me not to go there and they themselves never did go there. They never said me about the exact reason for it.

Ever you went into that garden and house and saw how they are? Ratan asked.

In my childhood I used to live along with my parents in that house itself. At my fifth year I think, we have been moved out from that garden and house and started residing in the town in a small house in the beginning. Later on my dad has become very much rich, we bought this house and started living in this. 

Once you have moved out from that place Murali asked her have not you people ever visited that again?

Not even for once with firmness Neelima said. Not just that. I am strictly prohibited even to think about that house and garden.

But now you are wishing very much to go along with all of us into that place and enjoy on this day. Anurag said.

I just don’t know how much I am wishing to do that. Neelima’s eyes have become wide with excitement. It will be very much thrilling to all of us there!

Then we can go into that garden and house and enjoy ourselves there. Count me in for it. Ratan joyfully said.

Are there any ‘count me outs’ in it? looking into the faces of the other people there, Neelima asked.

I cannot feel too much enthusiastic for it. Sukanya said. My subconscious is saying we are not doing something good here.

I just cannot believe that you are talking in this way! coming near to her and looking into her face straight Neelima said. You always are quite adventurous, courageous and brave!

But not now....I cannot say but.... Sukanya mumbled.

You are upset just because of...... Mounika tried to say something.

Alright I am also in. Sukanya hurriedly said. She did not like Mounika’s saying about her tooth issue there. Moreover it seemed that almost all those there were quite interested in going into that garden and house.

There are no ‘outs’ but all ‘ins. Parimala joyfully said. You just can take us all into that garden.

But one person here is not saying anything looking into the face of Saketh there, Neelima said. Unless he also says yes, I cannot feel completely happy.

If you want my frank opinion looking into her eyes straight Saketh said. It is not you who is arranging this trip. Something more powerful is making this trip to happen. I am not seeing any danger in going there now but don’t try to go there at anytime after this trip. 

While Saketh was looking straight into her eyes, Neelima felt as if something like electricity was entering into her body. Saketh was her college mate and he was also qualified in his engineering with highest marks! He was a very handsome guy and the only odd thing in him to all his friends and relatives was his interest in paranormal.

Saketh ever you do stop talking in riddles like this! I just cannot understand what you are saying. Mounika angrily said.

It was Mounika who very well knew about Saketh as Saketh’s house was near to her house and she studied along with him from her LKG to engineering. She very much knew about his interest in paranormal also. What at that moment she disliked very much was; his looking into Neelima’s face so and talking with her. She did not like his talking and showing interest with any other girl except on her.

Saketh turned and looked into the face of Mounika. I just told Neelima what I want to tell. There is no problem in going there now but not at any other time.

As in Saketh’s opinion also there is no problem in going there now, what is more to think in it? Anand said.

Then they did not waste much time to move away from that place.

W hen you have said that your parents prohibited you from visiting this place, I thought it would be spooky and haunted. But it is all so much good and neatly maintained. When they were all entered into that garden and settled themselves in the house there, Parimala said. I just cannot understand why your parents never allowed you to come here and enjoy yourself and they themselves also did not do so.

That is what I too cannot understand! with a surprising expression in her face Neelima said. I know that there is a caretaker for this garden and this house but I did not think he is maintaining both of these in this way.

But the expression in his face when he looked at all of us here Sukanya said. I can say just in one sentence. He did not like any of us visiting here. Why he is also not interested in our coming here really beyond my ken.

Is it needs an explanation? He has been asked to see that no one ever enters either into this garden or into this house. How he would feel once all of us came here and ask him to go inside? Ragini said.

The first question he asked. Really your parents allowed you all to come here? He just could not believe that your parents permitted you to visit this place. Anurag said.

I am afraid that he would sure tell this to your parents and they scold you. Ratan said.

No, problem. In fact I myself want to tell about our visiting this place to my parents when I meet them again. My parents are never unreasonable and there is not even a single occasion that my parents scolded me severely for anything. Neelima said.

If it is so, it needs to be considered even more deeply. Sukanya said with a fearful expression. Why such good parents prohibited you from visiting this place that strongly?

Don’t make Neelima disturbed with your unreasonable thinking. Mounika said irritatingly. In my opinion we did a very nice thing by visiting this place now.

But what good it would do if we remain in this house like this? We need to go into the garden and see all that. Anurag said.

You are right of course. Getting off from the chair Ragini said. Come. We go into the garden and see what exactly in store in it.

All those there vacated the chairs and sofa and stood up.

You people please go. I want to stay here for sometime. I come into the garden later. Anyhow we are going to stay here till evening. Sukanya said.

All of them looked into each other’s faces and one after one moved away from that place.

Sukanya leaned back in the chair and closed her eyes. Two things were completely making her upset. One was, she did not know why but losing her tooth like that. Two, was their visiting this place in this way. She did strongly believe that there was some reason in Neelima’s parents’ prohibiting her from visiting this place.

Do you know what is taking place in your life?

She heard that voice, opened her eyes with a snap and looked straight.  There stood Saketh just opposite to her looking straight into her face. Quite involuntarily Sukanya got off from the chair and stood to her full height.
