    Few Words from the Author

    Dear Reader,

Let me thank you heart-fully for the continuous encouragement for all my books till date. Before I do say anything about this book, I want to say why I wrote this book.

‘A Mansion Of Illusions’ is my very first romantic and psychological thriller with a word count of 1,17,731. In that thriller some eight people went into a house in the suburbs of a village which is in the very corner of the country to see a hundred years aged old woman who was bedridden for four days by that time. Even by the two doctors among those eight people considered that the old woman was in a coma like state, there was a rumor in the village that the old woman went on soul journey and come back into her body at any moment. Those eight people one day full experiences in that house is the novel ‘A Mansion Of Illusions’.

I am thinking for a long time to write a sequel to the book ‘A Mansion Of Illusions.’ I am prepared with a particular story also but could not pen it till now until I completed all the other books in the meanwhile. Now, ‘House of Delusions’ a sequel to the book ‘A Mansion Of Illusions’ is in your hands to read and enjoy

But what is the story of this ‘House of Delusions’? One among the eight people Dr.Malathi who visited the house last time expired but three new people psychiatrist Rose, her daughter Emily and psychiatrist Neeraja along with the remaining seven people and two kids entered into the house again to enjoy. There was no old woman in that house now as she was also expired. Just like in ‘A Mansion of Illusions’ the strange experiences of these people in their one day stay in that house is this novel ‘House Of Delusions’ with a word count of 1,18,530.

I have created the character of Dr.Rose in my novel ‘Rain Flower’ a psychological thriller who was a psychiatrist in Black Ant Mental Care. I included Dr.Rose and her daughter Emily in my novels ‘Enna’, ‘Amaswitha’ and ‘Sasikala.’ There is some simple role of Dr.Rose in my book ‘Just Relax!’ in which I have introduced the character of Dr.Neeraja another psychiatrist. You do say Dr.Rose, Emily and Dr.Neeraja are perfect inclusions in this book after you finish reading of it.

You neither need to read ‘A Mansion Of Illusions’, nor any of the books mentioned here to understand and enjoy this novel ‘House of Delusions.’ This book can be independently read and enjoyable just like any other book of mine.

I request you to leave a review once you finished reading of this thriller.

    With warm regards,

    Chapter-1

21 st January, 2020: 5 in the morning:

They were twelve in number, four men, five women, one fourteen years aged girl, five years aged one girl kid and one boy kid. Just fifteen minutes back they were all entered into that house and settled in the chairs in that verandah before the rooms in downstairs.

Just wonderful! Fantastic! I read about this house in that book but could not guess it would be like this. It is indeed big! looking at the four directions with eagerness and interest, Neeraja said.

This house has been constructed by father of my grandmother. It is more than hundred years old. When I said I want to repair and renovate this house, initially my wife, daughter and son in law did not agree to it but later they understood my emotional attachment to it and agreed. Rajesh paused for a moment and said again. I put considerable investment. I got made all the arrangements for our comfort. There are beds to take rest in every room except in this middle room. As the entrance way is from this middle room I did not prefer to arrange a bed here. All you may better put your luggage in this room. Except that Ratnam and his assistant to take our breakfast, lunch and dinner no one else would enter into this house, so there is no problem to your luggage.

Alright! We do so. While her charming smile playing its part on her lips, Rose said. Anyhow there are not that much valuables in our luggage. Mostly clothes and cosmetics.

There are three rooms downstairs and three rooms in the upstairs. The bathroom is just beside the big kitchen. Except you three, everyone else here are acquainted with the anatomy of this house. Rajesh said.

You have forgotten Arjun and Madhuri. They are also first time visitors to this house. Sunanda said.

I have forgotten about these junior citizens. Rajesh smiled and said.

Even we are the first time visitors, we too know about the house through the book ‘A Mansion of Illusions.’ This house has been so clearly described in that book. Neeraja laughed and said.

Alright. Anyhow you, Dr.Rose and her daughter please occupy the first room downstairs. It is very big with big ventilation and a king size bed in it. You can enjoy it in the way you want. But you have to come out only for your bath and other things. None of the rooms here have attached bathrooms. We all have to use the single bathroom beside kitchen but it is enough wide and having all the facilities in it.

For our one day single stay here, that is not going to be a problem. Rose said.

If you want. you can keep your luggage in your room itself. It is wide enough. Tanuja said.

I already put it in the middle room and have no strength to move it anywhere. Anyhow there are not much valuable in them as I said before. Rose said.

The same apply to me also and I also prefer to leave my luggage in the middle room. Neeraja smiled and said.

Tanuja and I prefer to stay in the grandma’s room. The rest of you can use the upstairs first and second rooms as the last room is still locked. You may use our room also if you want. Looking at the other people there, Rajesh said.

Alright, we do so. Anand smiled and said.

There is a small garden on the back side of this house. There is an entrance into it through kitchen. Even the garden is quite beautiful it is not that much recommendable to go into it in this environment. Because of the intermittent rain the ground of it may be quite wet and slippery.

We think later whether to go into it or not. Neeraja smiled and said.

In half an hour or so that Ratnam does come here taking our breakfast. You people may finish your bathing and other morning routine if you want. Rajesh said looking into the faces of the people there sat in the chairs.

I go first and take my bathing. Neeraja got off from the chair and went away from that place.

We have faced very strange experiences when we visited this place last time. How our experiences are going to be here now I cannot guess. Rajesh said to Rose who sat in the chair just beside him.

I read all about that in that book ‘A Mansion Of Illusions’ and I still can remember most of your experiences here which have been written in that book. I have no doubt that you were all just subjected to visionary and auditory hallucinations at that time.

You are right, Vinod also said the same thing many a time. Rajesh laughed. I wish this one day stay to you and that Neeraja would be quite enjoying and thrilling!

I already started enjoying my stay here and I hope the rest of the day also will be so to me. Rose smiled and said I want to know how my daughter is feeling here, where is she? She turned her head.

Your daughter is quite busy with my grandson and Vinod’s granddaughter. Just see how she is entertaining them both. Showing them three Rajesh said.

Arjun and Madhuri were on the either side of Emily who was explaining something to them both.

Your daughter is very much active and sociable! There will be no problem with Arjun and Madhuri to us. Rajesh said And you need not ask her how she is feeling here. She is feeling just wonderful I can say.

You are right Rose said and once again her charming smile took its place on her lips.

What all of them have acknowledged as soon as they entered into that house was the beginning of an uneasiness in them. What any of them at that moment did not know was that everyone there was feeling that uneasiness just like him or her.

O ne thing I cannot understand Sameera, who reached her thirty years age just one month back said. how the climate turned into the same way as it was nine years back when we entered into this house.

What do you want to say dear? looking into her face, Rajesh asked her.

Tanuja, Rajesh and Sameera also finished their bathing and other routine, entered into their room and started that chitchatting.

Just try to remember dad, try to remember. Sameera said. Climate was just like this when we entered into this house then. Cloudy, gloomy and raining little, is it can be just coincidence?

What else then it would be in your opinion? hearing her mother Tanuja’s voice on the back of her, Sameera turned back.

I thought that you have been sleeping in the chair, when you woke up? Rajesh turned towards his wife and asked with a smile covering her face with his gaze.

I did not sleep she hissed out heavily. I am just thinking in myself and listening to your conversation.

Eaves dropping expert Sameera laughed. But suddenly her face became serious. Mom, I am not thinking it is just coincidence. Our coming here like this, the turning of the climate in this way are not appearing coincidence.

Oh, just stop it. Don’t make me feel more and more fearful Tanuja said with a whisper like voice.

What the bloody hell you are talking? You are feeling fear here? Then why did you encourage me to renovate this house like this? Why did you encourage me to invite all those people to come here? looking at her angrily Rajesh asked.

Yes, mom, what is this? You are the main element in making dad renovate this house and invite all those people also here. Now you are talking in this way! looking irritatingly into her mother’s face, Sameera said.

You shut up. It is you who started this. If you don’t say like that, I would not have said like this. Tanuja also has become angry.

It is not the point why you have said it like that. It is the point why you are feeling like that. Still looking irritatingly into his wife’s face, Rajesh said.

Rajesh, my dear she transferred herself onto the bed beside her husband put her hands around his neck and placed her hand on his shoulder. Looking at them both Sameera smiled little. Her mother never would bother who were there whenever she wanted some comfort from her husband or wanted to express her love and affection on him.

I agree it was I who encouraged you to renovate this place. It is also I who made you to invite all these people to come here to stay and enjoy. But until I entered into this house, I felt thrill, I felt a sort of joy in making you doing all that. I have forgotten completely the experiences we have had on that day here. I thought it was our property and it need to be protected and enjoyed like this.

So far you are absolutely right and you did a nice thing. Rajesh interrupted her and said. As I also have thought in the same way, did all what you asked me to do.

But once I have entered into this house, I have been feeling uneasily. Tanjuja said as if she did not hear what Rajesh said at all. In the same way I have felt on the day when I first entered into this house.

Oh, mom. It is quite natural to feel in such a way in a place like this Sameera said. Even dad made it quite enjoyable and comfortable, it is a big odd house in a faraway village to our usual residence.

As mom said you have started this. If you have not said it like that her uneasy feeling would not have become this much. Once again looking into his daughter’s face who sat in a chair opposite to him and his wife, Rajesh said.

It is not so Rajesh Tanuja once again transferred herself into the chair in which she previously sat. I expressed myself so as Sameera said like that. In fact I am feeling little ease after talking with you both like this. She hissed out heavily.

If you think that we are not alone here and some more people also in company with us, you do feel even more ease. Rajesh said.

Yes, you are right. Tanuja laughed and said. Those psychiatrists Rose, Neeraja and Rose’s daughter Emily are in addition to us who came into this house nine years back.

Yes, mom. You are right. All of us are here who came here last time, except Malathi aunty. With a small voice Sameera said.

After hearing her daughter so, Rajesh and Tanuja’s faces became serious and gloomy. She knew that her parents would become like that if she said about Malathi but she could not remain without saying about her. Malathi also would have shown lot of interest to come to that house, if she was alive on that day.

O h, you! as soon as Sameera entered into their room Aravind got off from the chair he sat, went near to her, put his hand around her shoulders and kissed on her right cheek. She reciprocated smoothly by placing her both hands around his neck and kissing straight on his lips.

Where is our son? still holding him so and looking into his face she asked him. Even at that thirty two years of age also, Aravind was as he was when they first entered into this house in the year 2011. He always would appear to him handsome and attractive.

In the room of your friend Sunanda. He got his friend there Madhuri. Enjoying her beauty as he would always enjoy in the proximity of her, Aravind said. Having a child of five years and reaching the age of thirty years, instead of diminishing her glamour gave it a new angle. She was as much interesting and enjoyable to him as she was in the beginning days of their marriage.

Madhuri, the loving daughter of that couple she released him and gently relieved herself from his hug, went near to the bed there and slumped herself on that. That Anand and Sunanda are simply adoring her.

We also love and like our son that much Aravind dragged a chair near to her and put his weight on it.

Not as much as they both are doing to their daughter, I am afraid Sameera sighed. Madhuri is just like a flower, like her mother. Our Arjun is not so.

Arjun is a boy and a boy is supposed to be more rough than a girl Aravind laughed. After few seconds’ pause he said again Anand was in with me till two minutes or so before to your coming here.

Alright Sameera nodded her head and went near to the wall there and leaned on it. I want to ask you something and you have to give your answer to me frankly. She suddenly said.

Dear, I always be frank with you and you too know about it. Aravind leaned back in his chair and said.

Of course, I know Sameera nodded her head and sighed heavily before asking. How you are feeling after you have entered into this house?

Why you are asking me like that? knitting his brows together, Aravind asked her.

Just answer my question. Is there any difference in your feeling after you have entered into this house?

Little uneasily, I have to say. With an uncomfortable expression in his face, Aravind said. I can say you are also feeling in the same way. Otherwise you would not have asked this question.

Assumption right Sameera nodded her head.

Just wait until we say this to Vinod uncle. He would give the correct explanation to our uneasy feeling. Aravind smiled. In addition to him we have got two psychiatrists also here. They also do say the same thing.

No Aravind, I am not thinking like that. I agree that they sure do say that we are feeling like this only because of the oddity of this house and the place. Even I am not a psychologist or a psychiatrist, I am educated and I can understand the different feelings we usually be subjected to in different types of places. But the feeling I am having now is not appearing just like a feeling, it is a premonition! A subconscious signal! I am afraid something drastic may happen during our stay here. Fear clearly masked the face of Sameera at that time.

Then why did not you stop it all? Why did not you stop your dad from doing all this? Aravind once again knitted his brows together.

I have not have the feeling like this until I entered into this house. I just felt thrill and happiness to come here and stay here. How I have forgotten the experiences we had on that day here, I cannot understand. Fate, it is leading us, I think we cannot escape from it. the fear in her face thickened even more.

Oh, you are thinking too much dear Aravind went near to her and sat beside her. Nothing is as you are thinking about. We came here only to enjoy. It is indeed a big break to our boring and daily routine. Now our main duty here is to enjoy as much as possible. After saying so, he put his both hands around her neck and kissed on her both cheeks perfunctorily while making her laid gently on the bed.

He thought only one thing could change her mood completely then and put himself fully in it. It took nearly half an hour or so to complete that to both of them and by then not only they both were satisfied to the maximum and exhausted but Sameera’s mood also was substantially changed.

Then he went near to the doors of that room, unlatched them and opened them wide which he closed and latched before starting his romantic aerobics on Sameera.

Y es, we came here only to enjoy. There is no other purpose than that in it. In this brief period of our stay here, we have to enjoy as much as possible. Rajesh said Now I want to thank Dr.Rose, her daughter Emily and Dr.Neeraja as they graciously agreed to come and stay with us like this.

It should be the other way around Rose said. We have to thank you as you gave the opportunity to us to come here and enjoy. This house is indeed very much big, impressive and enjoyable!

At that time, except Anand, his daughter Madhuri, Aravind’s son Arjun, Rose’s daughter Emily, everyone else were assembled in that big hall.

Nine years back, in the year 2011 we came into this house for the first time. We have faced very strange experiences in this house at that time. Not just that my grandmother Rajeswari expired then. Rajesh paused for a moment and then said again. When we returned from this place, we have told our experiences to a writer. He wrote a book ‘A Mansion of Illusions’ which comprises not only about our stay in this house on that day but many more things also.

And it was published too. I have read that book a long time back itself. Really very much interesting! If I have not read that book, I would have asked you many questions about this house and your grandma. Neeraja said. To refresh myself, I read that book just before coming here also.

That book is indeed very much interesting! An apt title to the story of it. Whatever you people have gone through here on that day are nothing but your illusions. Rose said. I read that book sometime back and can remember most of it.

How you people came to know about that book? with a surprising expression on his face, Rajesh asked them.

Through Vinod. Have you forgotten that he is working in our mental care and one of us now? He said about that book and we read it. Rose said.

Now I understood. He did a nice thing. Rajesh nodded his head Vinod, you are not talking anything. I want to hear something from you. Looking into the face of Vinod, Rajesh said.

Last time I came here with my wife Malathi. More than five years have passed after my wife’s death and I made terms with it. But after entering into this house again, I am remembering once more how we all have spent time here with Malathi. I cannot say whether those memories are sweet or sour to me. Vinod leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes.

Oh, dad, please Sunanda who sat beside him put her right hand on his right shoulder. Mom is as much sweeter to me as she is to you. Her memories are invading me also now. I am feeling just like she is among us now. Then she removed her hand and put her head on that shoulder.

I am also feeling in the same way, just like Malathi is among us on this day. Tanuja who sat beside Rajesh said. I must say Sunanda your mom is a dearest person not just to you and your dad but to many other people also. Just because of her I married Rajesh. Tanuja’s voice became heavy with emotion.

I know about Malathi. I know how much Vinod was affected by the death of his wife. After her death he could not practice anymore individually as a psychologist and joined in our Black Ant Mental Care where he has become indispensable. Rose who sat near to them, heard that conversation and said.

Are psychologists that much important as psychiatrists in a mental care? looking into the face of Rose, Sunanda once again settled in her chair and asked her.

Every profession has its merits. If the patient is still under his control and in a position to listen and follow the instructions, only psychologists are preferable. We do treat all types of mental patients and in fact we need more psychologists in our mental care than we have now. Rose said.

I wish you to come to our mental care and see all of it. Your dad is working there now. Neeraja said.

I don’t think that I have a stomach to see mental patients and digest. Even I have not been to a mental hospital yet, I can understand how the mental patients would be. With a horrifying expression on her face, Sunanda said.

Despite being the daughter of a psychologist, your talking like this is shameful Vinod angrily said. It is as much natural to the mind to get diseases as it is to the body. Mental patients just need specific treatment to become normal again. Feeling fear or developing hate towards mental patients is very bad.

I am sorry dad, I should not have talked like that. The expression in Sunanda’s face turned into one of regret. I just forgot that I am a daughter of a very sincere psychologist. As reparation to the way of my thinking, I sure do come to that mental care and see all of that.

That’s a wise decision Neeraja smiled and said.

Sameera who was silent all the time there, wanted to say something but then they heard tapping sounds on the doors there.

I think it is Ratnam. He took our breakfast. I go and open the doors. Sameera got off from the chair and went away from that place.

I think I read this name somewhere in that book with a beautifully gathered frown on her face, Rose said.

He took breakfast, lunch and dinner to the people here. He is the son of Ratnakar who looked after the affairs of the old woman Rajeswari. Neeraja said.

Excellent! You remembered everything so perfect! Vinod said with a smile on his lips.

As they both were talking like that first Sameera, after her Ratnam and another person entered into that place. There were big parcels in the hands of Ratnam and that another person hold tea pot and paper glasses. This person was not that person who accompanied Ratnam into this house in their last time visit to here.

I am sorry that we have become late like this opening the parcels and distributing the packets in it to the people there Ratnam said.

Never mind, you have not become too late. It is the time we take our breakfast in our homes. Taking a packet from his hands, Rajesh said.

You people have come too early here by five in the morning itself. I did not expect you that early. Ratnam said.

Rose, Neeraja, Emily and the rest also came to the house of Rajesh and they all started from there in Rajesh’s big van.

We too did not opening the packet which was put in his hands Vinod said. We stopped only in one or two places after we have started from our place. So we came here early like that. He paused for a moment and said again But everything was arranged so neat and comfortable here. We started enjoying as soon as we entered into this house.

The whole credit must go to Ratnam himself. Rajesh said with an appreciative expression in his face. He all alone looked after renovating this house and made it comfortable and enjoyable like this.

I did not do it all alone Ratnam smiled and said You provided the means and I engaged skilled people. He paused a moment and said again looking into the face of his assistant Moreover this Raju as well helped me a lot in that work.

Most of them looked into the face of Raju then and there came an embarrassed expression in his face.

I go and intimate Anand and our children about breakfast. They all in upstairs room. Trying to get away from the chair, Sunanda said.

You need not go. Phone to him and ask him to come down Rajesh said.

You may not have noticed but there are no signals to our cell phones here. Sunanda smiled and said.

Is it is so? I did not notice. Rajesh took out his cell phone and looked at the screen of it. There was no signal in it.

Many people there also took their cell phones out and looked at them. There were no signals in any of their phones.

Is it is such a nook and corner village that none of our cell phones having signals? Is there no cell phone tower here? with surprise in her voice, Neeraja asked.

It is not so, we have cell phone signals in our village. It is like this only in this house. Raju who came along with Ratnam said.

Why it is so, I cannot understand! with surprise in his face, Rajesh asked him.

We have faced the same problem last time also, how did you forget? Tanuja asked Rajesh.

Cell networks did not reach this far nine years back. There was no surprise if our cell phones have no signals then. But I thought..... Rajesh tried to say something more.

This Raju said there will be signal to our phones in the village. If we want to talk with someone we can go out and do that. Don’t think too much about it. Tanuja said.

Rajesh did not prefer to say anything to that.

Not just that, the people who worked here have faced strange experiences. I have to put lot of effort to make them to work here. Ratnam said while observing Sunanda and Sameera there with furtive looks. Nine years back he observed them so, in this house exactly at this place. It surprised him that long passage of time increased their glamour rather than diminishing it. When his roving looks settled on Neeraja, his heart missed a beat.

This girl was appearing completely different to him. She was a stunning beauty just like Sameera but was appearing considerably young. Surely she would not have been married yet. What was even more remarkable to him was that the woman sat beside this girl. She was appearing aged middle forties but was more beautiful than anyone else there. He did not see either this girl or that woman last time when these people came here. Not just that a woman who came here then was missing now, what would have happened to her?

Mommy suddenly a fourteen years or so aged girl came there and put her hands around that woman’s neck. Why all you people are assembled here?

Are not you seeing that we are all taking our breakfast? Take one packet and start eating. Anyhow where are the other two little guys? looking into the eyes of her daughter Emily, Rose asked her.

We are here on the back of you now.

On hearing Arjun’s voice Rose turned back and looked. Behind her Anand stood while Madhuri and Arjun clutching his either hands.

Its time for breakfast. Each of you three pick a packet and do justice to it. I must say this breakfast is indeed good. Tanuja said while consuming her breakfast.

I cannot remain without doing that. I am feeling hungry like anything. Taking a packet into his hands from the bundle there, Anand said.

Sameera and Sunanda, you both better look after your wards breakfast. They may not do it better all by themselves. Aravind said.

You are right, come near to me my dear girl. By then Sunanda finished her breakfast and put the waste in a dustbin nearby.

When Madhuri heard her so, she came to her mother promptly as she was also feeling hungry. Sunanda took a fresh packet from the bundle and started feeding it to her daughter. Sameera also followed her suit. The interested way of Arjun’s eating his breakfast insinuated to her that he was also famished a lot.

They used to hear strange sounds. Just like someone was weeping, shouting. They had strange touch experiences on their bodies. They felt breathing on their necks but when they turned back they could not find anyone. Occasionally they could not breath. Just like this and some more. Ratnam said.

The people there looked into each other’s faces.

Do you say these were also nothing but their auditory and visionary hallucinations? Rajesh asked Rose who was in the end of finishing her breakfast.

What else? Surely they are that. Instead of Rose, Neeraja who was beside Rose, answered to him.

Rose nodded her head and threw the remaining waste package into the dustbin there.

People are still feeling fear to this house. In their opinion the spirits of grandmother, Nagaraju and Semanthakam... Ratnam tried to say something more.

You may better stop now. Rajesh impatiently said. We all know very well none of that is true.

I am sorry. It seems that I unnecessarily made you people feel fear. With a regretful expression in his face, Ratnam said.

Its alright. Don’t worry too much. Tanuja said trying not to show her inner feelings on her face. Hearing Ratnam like that increased her uneasiness a lot. "Anyhow the help you are doing to us, we never can forget. We
