Sailaja, the wife of a very rich businessman Somanath, became absolutely mad for more than two years and what all she would do was; just staring ahead with a blank expression on her face. I wrote the novel Rain Flower a long time back with characters Dr.Rose, Williams, Charles etc. in that and it has got wonderful encouragement of all of you.  You enjoyed that novel that much and liked the characters in them a lot (especially Dr.Rose) so I wrote the novels ‘Amaswitha’, ‘Sasikala’, ‘Rustle in the Leaves’ using the same characters and you enjoyed and encouraged those books also. Just like to me, Dr.Rose has become a favourite to you people also, and there were demands from you to write another book using her character. But Dr.Rose has become a fifty years aged woman and got a grandson also through her daughter Emily in the book Rustle in the Leaves. What romantic feeling I can create in you if I write a book continuing the story of ‘Rustle in the Leaves’ keeping Dr.Rose as a fifty years aged woman? So I wrote the novel ‘Split Personality’ the timing of which were the youth of Dr.Rose and the early days of her marriage with Williams and that was also a grand successes! After that book, there were even more demands from you to write another book with Dr.Rose character in it just like in ‘Split Personality’. So I took pains to write this book ‘Spirit in the Mirror’ the word count of which is one lakh and a little more and the timing of which also is just like in the ‘Split Personality’. The Story briefly;

Chapter-2

THE STORY BEGINS HERE;

When she woke up and looked at the clock on the table there, Rose startled! It was already six in the morning and she needed to be in BAMC by nine itself. She tried to get off from the bed instantly but suddenly felt Williams hand across her naked chest.

Why do you this hasty everyday to the office? he was still sleepy and mumbling.

Will, it is already six in the morning. Not only I you also should get up fast and prepare yourself to go to your office. We are not supposed to sleep till nine in the morning while our obligations are like that. She tried to remove his hand and sat up on the bed.

But this time Williams put his right leg also across her body and hugged her nearly. Bloody hell with our obligations. In our youth like this, we are supposed to enjoy but nothing else.

In other situations, she would have irritated at that but because of her husband’s problem till recently and for such a change in him she felt happy. Considering how much he was disturbed because of the situations in his life, she never has thought that this much of recovery was possible in him. So however much important it was to her to get up and go early to BAMC, she turned towards him and looked into his face.

Oh.....dear.....dear.....don’t go away. Williams did not prefer to open his eyes but made his hug around her even tighter.

Will, ever it occurs to you that recently you have been behaving like a brute? A gang rape is better to me than my last night experience in your hands. Mocking little anger in her voice Rose said.

Then Williams opened his eyes and his lips were filled with a small smile. But don’t tell you did not enjoy it. You have reciprocated with every act of me in a full-fledged manner.

Yes, of course, I enjoyed it. But sometimes I felt pain also. I must say you are not bothering on some occasions how you are behaving in sex. In fact there were newly three admitted patients for her in BAMC and for them she needed to go to BAMC fast. But she thought this discussion with her husband at that moment also was very much important.

Williams who was her husband now, was a thirty years aged clever, rich and educated businessman. Suddenly on one day he had seen the immoral sexual affair between her mother and the long-time servant of them in their old palace which made him lost his mental balance. He became mild mad, just remained staring ahead blankly. He had been admitted in Black Ant Mental Care where he was entrusted to Rose who was the practicing psychiatrist there. Rose could make Williams to come to his senses but he forgot everything that happened before. Rose and her senior Charles strongly opined, forcing Williams to remember either that particular incident he had seen in the old palace or about his past before that incident would have serious damaging consequences to him. During the treatment Rose and Williams fall in love and Rose later became Williams' wife. As the time gone by, a situation has come that Rose has to make Williams to remember that particular incident along with all his past by putting him in deep hypnosis.As expected by her and her senior Charles, Williams very much disturbed by that and Rose indeed has to put lot of effort to make him normal. In addition to her treatment, the newly born girl child of them ‘Emily’ also made Williams usual but still sometimes he was losing his mental balance and becoming violent. Rose was still have to be careful guide him and counsel him whenever was necessary.

I can understand what you are trying to say Rose. Sighing heavily Williams said. Whatever I have witnessed on that day has its part in making me behave like that.

Yes, of course. You are right. Rose nodded her head with her charming smile on her lips. And you need to understand there is no problem with it at all even it makes me hurt a little.

Making you hurt is the big problem Rose. With a worrying expression in his face Williams said. I just cannot bear even the idea I am making you feel hurt.

No, it is not just hurt Will. There is an equal measure of pleasure also in that. I too want sometimes a rough treatment like that. But.......... She kissed on his lips before saying again. .......it is important that you acknowledge the change that is taking place in you and don’t let it over power you even more. Whenever you feel the urge of it, don’t suffer yourself with it for long. I am just handy to you always. Satisfying it without much delay is important to you. It is even more important that you don’t develop negative feelings towards sex because of the situation that took place in your life.

That is what becoming very much difficult to me sometimes. Sometimes I am thinking how much better it would have been if I remained without remembering any of my past.Williams suddenly sat on the bed straight and his face was with full of depression.

Oh, don’t say like that......don’t say like that at all. Rose also sat beside him, put her both hands around his neck and kissed on his both cheeks. It may be good for you but not for us both, your beloved wife and our little devil Emily. You just don’t know how much we both need, want and wish you healthy and happy in all respects.

That caused a smile on the lips of Williams even though the depressive expression was just the same still. The only one good thing that my madness caused to me in my life is; got me a beautiful like you. I am really so happy to have you as my life.

It is not just for you so, to me also just like that. I was attracted towards you and fell in love with you in those days itself while you were mildly mad and do I need to tell how I am feeling towards you now? But you rascal you are just like this in doing this to me in those days also. Quite experienced, rhythmic and systematic.

Her cheeks were blushed when she remembered what she did to him to make him to come to his senses. Even he was completely out of his senses at that time, he enjoyed her brutally without leaving a little place in her body as if he has thorough experience in that by then itself.

You know the reason how I could do that so then, I told you about that also. You are that much good that you have not developed any sour feeling even after knowing about my previous love affair. Looking into her face and without trying to relieve himself from her hold Williams said.

It was just because that love was a mistake and you were just exploited by a mischievous girl. A long time back, by that time itself, that girl went out of your life and it is just like you are only for me. So I felt only love and affection on you all the time.

The only good thing that my madness did for me, I want to say again....... Williams lips were widened with a small smile. .........it got me a beautiful wife like you.

I too say this again and again. It is just the same for me also. Rose hugged Williams strongly and kissed on his both lips. Williams also put his both hands around her and they both were with the opinion to go some little far in that but then they heard the weeping of their six months little daughter Emily from the cradle just beside their bed. Rose hurriedly put the saree around her, ran near to the cradle and took the baby into her hands before slumping on the edge of the bed along with her.

How this devil exactly knows the timing to disturb us when we are with the very much mood. Williams irritatingly said.

Don’t say like that. Rose laughed and said while maneuvering her right breast tit into the mouth of her daughter. Just remember how long you did it like that yesterday night and if our daughter is an enemy like that to us, could you manage to do it so?

You are right. looking at his daughter while she was sucking on the breast of Rose Williams said and he remembered how he sucked on them on the last night.

Alright dear. Anything new in BAMC? You are hastening yourself to go fast on this day? Williams asked her.

Nothing new, everything was going in usual way. Changing her daughter from her right breast to left breast Rose said. Two new patients were joined and two patients were entrusted to me from the care of the other psychiatrist. Moreover this day also is scheduled full for me and unless I do go early, I cannot make routine check-up of all my patients.

Why don’t you ask Charles to lessen your burden to some extent? It is just like only you are the competent psychiatrist in it. With an angry expression Williams said.

I cannot blame Charles. With a smile she adjusted her daughter in her lap for more comfort who was sucking on her left breast as vigorously as she did with her right breast. I cannot say other psychiatrists there are incompetent but some patients are showing good result only under my care. To be frank, other psychiatrists there also are pleading with me to take the burden of their patients, what should I do?

I must say one thing here! with a mischievous smile on his lips Williams said. Your glamour is hundred percent playing a role in curing those patients. It is indeed difficult not to be influenced by your glamour.

Thanks for the compliment! with the blushed cheeks Rose said. As far as male patients are concerned, what you have said may be true but I don’t think it applies to female patients also. My success ratio is just the same for male and female patients.

How you can come to the opinion that beauty doesn’t influence female patients? It may not be as much as for male patients but women also will be impressed and influenced by beauty.

Alright....alright. Rose said and as by that moment the girl in her lap fell asleep, she once again put her carefully into the cradle. How your life is going in that Mammooth? Everything is alright there? while dressing herself properly Rose asked him.

In the office, in the home and everywhere, sometimes I have been struggling with my thoughts and sometimes in remembering things. Except that I can say that things are going in a peaceful way. Williams also got off from the bed all naked and stood straight beside that. He took his lungi from the bed and put it around his waist.

Everything is going to be alright very soon for you. Rose came near to him, put her both hands around Williams before kissing on his right cheek. You just try to be in the way I ask. Don’t worry for anything.

I am doing everything in the way you asked me to do. Williams also put his both hands around her and kissed on her lips. While you are looking after my everything in a careful way, for what else I need to be worried?

Williams found his thing fully erected again and the urge in him to have her then and there once more was very much but then they heard a voice from the hall.

Madam, I came. Will you please give the baby to me? From now until you both return in the evening, I shall be everything for her.

Thank god! Rajani also has come. I need to give Emily to her and prepare myself to go to BAMC. You also don’t delay anymore, prepare fast and go to the office. ON THAT DAY, THE PATIENT scheduled for three thirty to four in the evening cancelled his appointment as there was some other work to him and after seeing lot many patients till that moment Rose exhausted completely and was relaxing herself in her chair leaning back in it. There was thirty minutes time to her to attend on the next patient and she just did not want to be disturbed and relaxed herself so in that time. Her eyes were closed and she was about to slip into small sleepbut disturbing her and irritating her to the maximum her cell phone rang. When she looked at the screen it was Charles.

How the hell you know my patient this time cancelled his appointment and I am free? Rose irritatingly said in the phone.

I promise Rose I don’t know about that at all. She could hear Charles’ laughter. I know you never like to be disturbed while you are dealing with a patient and unless it is very much interesting I would not have dared to do so. Just remember! I don’t know you are free now.

Please tell that in the phone itself and don’t ask me to come into your chamber. I am very much exhausted and want to take rest before the next patient came onto me. Rose irritatingly said.

No Rose. You must come. It is that much interesting that your coming here sacrificing your rest hundred percent worths it. Please come fast. After saying that Charles cut off his phone call.

TELL ME CHARLES WHAT it is that much interesting that you forced me to come like this? leaning back in the chair restraining a yawn Rose asked him. Rather than feeling curiosity to hear what Charles was going to say, she was still feeling irritation as she was forced to come like that into his chamber disturbing herself from her relaxing mood.

I think that you know about the program of some college students visiting our mental care on this day to see the patients here. Charles said.

Yes, you told me about that. Rose adjusted herself for more comfort in the chair. Some degree psychology students. They have to write a paper on mental careand submit the same. Rose suddenly remembered her visiting BAMC to submit a paper like that while she was studying psychology and that memory filled her lips with a charming smile. I also visited BAMC while I was a student to submit my paper.

Then they visited the patient Sailaja, wife of that rich merchant, who has been under your care nearly for one month Rose. You have been taking special care of her and you said there is little improvement in her. Charles paused a little. 

Yes, Charles.I remember. Nodding her head Rose said. On this day also I visited on her before going into my clinic. Except that little improvement, she is just in the same way. But I am confident that I can make her alright. It will take just sometime.

Those college girls who visited our mental care were five in number and I have entrusted the responsibility to show our mental care and the patients here to the nurse Maria. So she took them all over our mental care and showed many of the patients here and then took them to the patient Sailaja also. Charles paused for a second.

Cannot you say anything straight Charles? You already told me that they visited on Sailaja. Just tell me what took place. This time instead of irritation, Rose felt curiosity, she stooped forward and balanced herself on her arms on the table in between them both.

There was some moment, some reaction in Sailaja when she looked at one particular girl in that group. As per Maria’s saying, Sailajaeven tried to say something also and touch the girl. Then that girl felt fear and went away from that place and all the other girls also left with her. Charles completed.

Is it true Charles? Really it took place like that? Rose did not know but she got off from the chair she sat still looking into the face of Charles.

Yes, it is true Rose. Without moving from his chair and looking into her face, Charles said. You know how hard we are all working to get that Sailaja back to her senses. We did not get even a little bit success in that except that little improvement you are saying. Now this happened in this way.

I just don’t know how to understand this! Rose once again slumped in her chair, balancing her arms on the table in between just like before still looking into the face of Charles. What exactly the behavior of Sailaja at that moment? Call that Maria here. I want to talk with her direct.

Sure Rose. Now itself I call that Maria into my chamber. After saying that Charles took the telephone into his hands.

TELL ME AS MUCH AS you do remember Maria. Have you observed keenly Sailaja while she was with that girl? What exactly her behavior at that moment? She tried even to talk and clutch that girl with her hands? looking into the face of Maria direct, Rose asked her.

In fact I did not expect anything like that and I was just in my usual way doctor. As she was a mild mad patient, I was not very much bothering also. I was just explaining about her to those group of girls showing Sailaja to them but then I saw a sudden movement in Sailaja. There was reaction, response in her and she walked towards a particular girl there. She tried to take her both hands into her hands and I saw the movements of her lips also. I was sure she was trying to say something and asked the girls there to remain absolutely calm. I know how we all have been struggling for her recovery and I am the nurse taking care of her all the time. So I want to know what was taking place and that particular girl could cause any response in her.

You are very responsible and you did a very nice thing Maria. Rose laughed but she was feeling too much excitement!She knew how much big benefit would be to that mental care if that Sailaja was cured and there will be benefit to all of them also. Her mental care and herself also could get lot more good reputation if at all she was cured. After losing his hope everywhere her husband joined her in BAMC. Tell me what happened next.

But that girl felt fear madam. She moved away from that place fast. It seems that she was a leader type to the girls there, once she left that place all of them also went after her. I want to stop those girls, stop that particular girl, took her to Charles sir and tell him what happened. But in no time they vanished from this place. With a disappointing expression Maria said.

That girl is a psychology student and purported to become a psychologist. How she felt fear to a psychological patient I just cannot understand! Charles angrily said.

Its alright Charles. That is not we need to worry about now. Turning her head and looking into the face of Charles again, Rose said. Is there any chance that those group of girls visit our mental care again?

No Rose. It is only one day three hours program to them. They don’t come here again. Charles was still irritating.

Anyhow do you have details of those girls with you? The names of them and from which college they visited our mental care, etc.

Goats and Shepherds Psychological Studies. Charles said. That is the name of that college and they are all third year degree students. I don’t have the names of those girls but if we contact that college, it is not going to be difficult to know who visited our mental care on this day and who is that girl among them.

I know the name of that girl madam. Maria said. I heard her being called Sameera by the other girls.

That’s nice Maria. After saying so looking into the face of Maria, Rose once again looked into the face of Charles. You talk with that college Charles.Tell them we want to talk with that girl. Tell them if necessary why we want to talk with that girl also. If necessary I go myself to that college and talk with that girl. It is a must for us.

Alright Rose. I talk with that college. As it has become evening like this, we may better postpone this to tomorrow. Charles said leaning back in the chair and relaxing himself a bit.

Rose nodded her head and got off from the chair she sat. She suddenly remembered Emily. However much Rajani was looking after her well, Rose just did not like leaving her daughter like that such a long time at home. It was just out of compulsion and until she go to her home and took her daughter into her hands, she could not feel peaceful. 

IS THIS DAY ALSO JUST like any other day? on the night of the day, when Rose after making Emily peacefully sleep in the cradle and settled on his right side on the bed, Williams took her into his hands and asked.

No, of course. Rose also put her both hands round his neck and kissed straight on his lips. There is some news to tell. Very interesting news indeed!

I am very much eager to hear. Putting his right leg across her body Williams said. Recently life has become too routine to both of us without any news.

That much is true. Rose smiled and said I think I told you about Somanath’s, the richest business man in our country, wife’s admission in our mental care.

Yes, you told me about that. You said to me that woman has been admitted in your mental care one month or so back. That Somanath, even after trying in foreign countries also for her treatment, ultimately joined her in your mental care. But from the moment she was joined, you and Charles have been trying your level best to make her free of her madness but it has not become possible to you both. Williams said.

You remembered very well! You are absolutely right. Rose once again smiled. It was indeed two years or so she lost her senses but from that moment itself her behavior was just the same. Just stare ahead all the time without talking anything with anyone. Her face is always blank without any expression, response or reaction. Charles and I both have been trying all the techniques but could not have much improvement except little. I am confident that I can make her alright but most of the time she is just the same.

It reminds me just my situation. I also used to be like that in those days in BAMC. Then he used that technique.......... He laughed and kissed on both cheeks of Rose. ........and made me come to my senses. Why Charles would not do something like that to her to bring back to her senses.

Charles does not know what I did to you to bring you back to your senses. Rose’s cheeks were deeply blushed when she remembered what she did in those days, while Williams was absolutely mildly mad in BAMC to bring him back to his senses. On one day she made him do sex with her and the sexual desire in him at that moment made connection with his past sexual episodes, it galvanized something in him and made him come back to his senses. I did not tell about that to anyone. It is not something that I can tell to everyone.

(This has been described in the novel Rain Flower in which Williams and Rose are main characters)

Then why don’t you tell him about it? Who knows, something like that from Charles side towards her may certainly bring her back to her senses. With a mischievous smile on his lips Williams said.
