■ A boss tells a potential employee, “I’ll give you R10 an hour starting today and in three months, I’ll raise it to R15 per hour. So, when would you like to start?”
The man replies: “In three months.”
■ A boss retires and orders a farewell party to be organised for his final day of work. He asks everyone to express their good feelings towards him by writing them in the farewell card.
Most people write standard phrases, such as “Without you, the company will never be the same” and “We’ll always remember you”, but the boss is not satisfied.
“I need something from the bottom of your heart. Okay, John, you’ve been working with me for the last 20 years. You’re my best employee.
