These cells are planar and mostly made of keratin, which is a hard substance that enables the epidermis to accomplish its fundamental job, which is to protect and shelter us from damage caused by the environment as well as from harm. How exactly does this layer of dead cells ensure that we are protected from the elements and make us waterproof? These dead skin cells sit above a layer of living cells that are constantly dividing and multiplying (keratinocytes).     Because younger generations have lost touch with the traditional Japanese diet, which is frequently cited as the reason for the Japanese people's unusually long life expectancy, those generations can no longer serve as a model for younger ones. They frequent McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Yoshinoya, a chain of Japanese fast food restaurants that specializes in beef bowls. Yoshinoya is a Japanese word that means beef bowl.

    Having said that, the typical diet of a Japanese person is still significantly better for them than the typical diet of a person living in a Western country, both in terms of the total amount of food they consume and the percentage of their diet that is comprised of foods high in carbohydrates, foods high in vitamins, and foods high in protein. When compared to people in the United States, for instance, we consume a lot less food on a daily basis, and the evidence of this can be seen in the proportions of the servings offered at fast food restaurants. In Japan, the majority of meals, regardless of whether they are breakfast, lunch, or dinner, include at least one serving of vegetables. Additionally, it is not usual to eat sweet breakfast foods like muffins or pancakes in the morning, nor is it the custom to have dessert after dinner.
