About this ebook

Jones has found the pleasure of yard and garage sales. Now, he ventures into the realm of estates sales. He may have bought more than needed. But at the estate sale he finds a finely crafted wooden recipe box. In it he finds a recipe for boiled cake. Rage has an old skirt for the bag to boil it in.
In the box he finds a note asking for help. The next day they go back, and Rage buys a book. The boss of the estate sends out two hit men to take back the box and book.
The Coroner has two men with no case number and a meeting is going on to determine what to do. Research on the estate shows the lawyer has control of the estate with the lady of the house likely a prisoner. The estate is large, but not worth the effort or risk.
The bodies of the hit men are returned to the estate with a demand for money. They agree to pay.
One night, the lady is returned to her home, safe and sound.
Jones goes back to perfecting his boiled cake, if that were possible.

    Chapter 1 The Shooting Date

Two police officers meet at the doors of the police shooting range after shooting.

Patrolman Jones asks Detective Rage as he opens the door for her, You shoot very well. I have been using the police range, but it is hard to get any serious shooting in and they are always busy. Where do you shoot?

Rage says, Mostly the police range but it is hard. There is a private range out east. I was there once during general shooting. It was too busy and to many people. I saw he did have special group shooting. I could call and get a time early Saturday. Before any general shooting starts.

Jones nods, Ok, let’s do it.

Rage sets a time on Saturday at 6 am and tells Jones the next day about the schedule, "I will pick you up at 5:30 am, please come in your full uniform.

Jones cannot figure why he should dress up, ‘but oh well.’

At 5:30 am on Saturday, Jones is waiting outside his apartment in his full-dress uniform. He has two boxes of extra ammo, which he puts on the front floor as he gets in her truck. He sees Rage has three boxes of 45-shells on the back seat. He sees she has her Colt on her hip, but he can see a gun case on the back seat with the ammo.

At 5:53 am Rage pulls into the shooting range’s parking lot. There are no cars there. She grabs her three boxes of shells, gun case and locks the truck. Jones wonders where her second Colt is?

He thinks, ‘maybe she has it in the case to keep it new. She only shoots it occasionally.’

The owner is surprised when Rage shows up with her Colt, badge, and a huge unformed officer. The owner has never seen her badge. She always had a case for her gun.

Rage smiles, Nice of you to open up and let us shoot early before it gets busy.

Please come in. You have until 7 am but it will likely not take that much time. I do have several cleaning rooms when you are done, if you want to use them. They are solid concrete and very safe.

Rage and Jones go out to the
