About this ebook
An archeological dig has a boundary dispute with the Goshute Indian nation over reservation lands in Utah. Doctor Henry wants and even demands to dig on Indian lands. He does not want to believe the survey markers the government has. He is forced to pay for another survey which only confirms the original markers. This makes him even madder and is vengeful over the matter and will not forget they wronged him. He always takes credit for all the noteworthy finds even when he is not there. He is not welcome on the reservation land at any time.
Doc Henry’s former students are looking to get out from under his heel, but he controls all the money in the region. Al and Harry (former students of Doctor Henry) finds a new dig site on reservation land along with a current native student Running Dog. Running Dog petitions the Goshute tribe that he and his colleges be given permission to dig on tribal lands.
Doctor Henry, when finding out about the new dig, demands he should have control of the dig because he is the best and deserves it. The tribe tells him to stay away.
The tribe allows the dig on their land to proceed after several ceremonies are conducted with Al and Harry. Running Dog and the tribal Elders later join in.
The archeological site is ancient and may reach back to 20,000 BC or beyond. It may tell of the many people on the land, the filling of the giant lake, its draining, and the cold they continually fought to survive.
In a cave they find records of the ancient people all etched on a polished granite Wall 12 feet tall and many steps wide. They doubt even today they could etch the Wall. The Wall reports the past and if read properly, future events? The finders doubt this, but the ancients appear to have predicted accurately some future events in the heavens or did they just record them. But then the question is how did they know of them? The dig team has many unusual findings of the knowledge about these ancient people, but they fear to release the information.
Just where will this lead the Goshute Nation, the dig team, and Doctor Henry?
Is it possible to build a calendar to track time and not use the moon or sun?

Prologue
Millions of years before today, a westward thrust fault in the Great Basin of the western USA opens many small fissures below the ground surface leading to the warming of the ground. Natural warm springs are also created by the fault for hundreds of miles around what will be Lake Bonneville and eventually the Great Salt Lake.
The ice age is in full force, but the climate is maybe starting to slightly warm. The ancient ones are in their naturally warmed caves during the most bitter solid cold. The cave dwellers look up into the ice cold, crystal-clear skies and see more than modern man does with all his fancy instruments and ideas.
38,000 BC, Vega is the North Star
In their main cave the old Wise One points, "See the bright lights wobble as written on the Wall; we must etch the information into the polished rock Wall as the ancients have done in the past. It will be many cycles before the lights again continue their journey across the vapor. But etch what I say, ‘the warmth will return, we must be patience.’
Let us have the strong youth etch deep. We will continue to measure the sky with the sacred symbols we have been given. It has been too long since we trained the young ones in these meanings.
The old Wise One whispers from his hooded head and robed clad body, "Many families ago, the Mother of Life was but a puddle. Many Wise Ones have passed, the cold has left a little, and many families lived, hunted, and placed bulbs in Brown Mother to grow for food. (What is called the Mother of Life will someday be called Lake Bonneville.)
The time passes in the cold and a young one is now the Wise One, Elders, it is our duty to slow the work on the Wall and direct the next young ones. I will instruct three of the Elders. This is wise counsel that I have received as I sat in the special Lodge of Inquire. Each Elder will instruct three of their juniors. Soon everyone will have their instructions. The women will instruct all their young ones. Everyone will be instructed; then the knowledge will never be lost.
