Beyond the path
Q At the start of your first book, The Salt Path, you were in a very different situation to the one you are in now. What would you tell your past self, if you could speak to her?
Atthebeginningof The Salt Path, Iandmy husband Moth were served with an eviction notice to leave the home we had owned for 20 years, and had just a week to pack those 20 years of life into boxes. During that week, as we were coming to terms with the fact there was no accommodation available to us and we were about to become homeless, Moth had a routine hospital appointment. It turned out to be anything but routine; he was diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration, a disease that has no treatment or cure. The sense of pain, loss and fear were almost overwhelming, as our lives fell apart and we faced our new reality. But it was in that moment that we made a decision that saved us in every way possible.
