About this ebook

Patrolman Jones must find a female bowling replacement for the police championship match. He asks patrolman Rage.
The teams are about tied going into the final game. Rage has an outstanding game going into the ninth and tenth frames.
Masked men with automatic weapons descend on the bowling alley. Before anyone can even move, masked men move in and start to remove every bowling ball. They also take all the balls at the bowling stations. Most of these are privately owned. A few people are clubbed down when they protest the taking of their balls.
The people in the alley are ordered to remain for ten minutes and they will not be harmed. A few people panic and become a mob. The few police can’t stop the stampede to the doors. The doors are trapped with explosives and kill those opening them.
The FBI is handling the case but with little to go on. They did not invite Rage or Jones to help them. After a second FBI team is formed, they seek out both Rage and Jones.
The FBI has yet to decide exactly what they wanted; was it the alley’s balls, the private balls, the land the alley sits on, or was it a practice for a bigger event?

    Chapter 1 The Bowling Tournament

It is raining in the one city where very few people even own an umbrella, no less use it. But a few people will carry one in January; where it will rain 33-days straight. During this time, even the ducks wear boots.

It is the end of the winter bowling season in Seattle.

In the police men’s locker room before shift starts the rollcall Sergeant corners an officer, Officer Jones, Sally cannot make the bowling on Saturday. We need another woman. They said that we get Sally’s 143 average. We need someone that can walk to the foul line. As your Sergeant, I expect you to find one.

Jones has three days to come up with a female for the team. He has few friends and even fewer female friends. But he must ‘take one for the team’.

Jones has been on the police force for less than two years. He is still a rookie in the patrol car. He gets to drive only during daylight hours.

Jones’ thinks, ‘The sergeant did not say the woman had to be an officer. Even a civilian working for the police will do’.

But Jones does not socialize with people at work. Part of this is the fact that he was a Navy Seal before entering the police force. They usually do not have much of a social life.

By chance, Jones is going on duty as the day shift patrol is leaving. Around a corner, he almost collides with a red headed female in civilian clothes.

    He says, Sorry Ma’am.

The red head is only slightly less in height than officer Jones. He is in full uniform and side steps to leave her room to continue her way.

She smiles slightly, maybe more than the ‘Ma’am’ would have required at his surprise as they meet at the corner.

She smiles a little more, Officer Jones, you must watch where you are going, as she continues.

Officer Jones now recognizes officer Rage, even when she is not in her uniform. They were brought together briefly at the second Awards Ceremony where they were both given a commendation. See the ‘13th Street Gang case’ for their first encounter when Jones had expended all his ammo for his police special in a shootout. He has seen her a few times since. She is about one year ahead of him in the department and she is driving a patrol car full time.

    He pauses, turns, Officer Rage.

    She turns, Yes.

Jones cannot be shy when looking for a substitute for the bowling team. They are playing the 10th precinct, who always seem to win the trophy and keeps it another year in their showcase.

He stands a little taller, Our bowling team is short one woman. We are playing the 10th. It is more social than bowling. You would only have to show up. Everything is already paid for. If we do not find someone they will win without throwing a ball.

He pauses realizing what he has just said, It all came out wrong, but we could use you.

Rage has a small smile on her face, What you need is a warm female body.

Few things can get a Navy Seal to blush,
