About this ebook

Mr. and Mrs. Black are enjoying two weeks in Mexico.
In Seattle, their maid finds the three rooms upstairs are torn apart, furniture broken apart, the rugs pulled up and cut into strips, the light fixtures torn from the ceiling, the sink and toilet broken apart into the tub. A body of a man is barely seen in the bedroom before the maid runs screaming in tears.
The plastic cards, many with photos still on the body, identifies him as Mr. Black. At Mr. Black’s business, B/W, they find full sized pictures of Mr. Black on several walls. A business associate identifies the body as Mr. Black.
The wife is contacted in Mexico, she is still expecting her husband to return the next day from fishing. It will be a day before she can return to Seattle.
Detective Rage researches all commercial and private jets from Mexico to Seattle. There is no way Mr. Black could have returned home from the last time he was seen in Mexico.
Mrs. Black faints at the sight of his body. Her only words are, “That is not my husband, what have you done with him?”
The bigger questions are no long who murdered Mr. Black, but where is Mr. Black? Who has been murdered in Mr. Black’s house? Why was he impersonating Mr. Black at his company?

    Chapter one Day One

Mrs. South lives across the street from the Blacks. They are only three blocks north of the University of Washington. The Blacks are on a two weeks’ vacation to Mexico.

Mrs. South shares Rosie the maid with Mrs. Black. Rosie is about twenty years old, working part time and going to college. The Blacks have little need for a fulltime maid. Rosie cleaned their house before their two-week vacation. She is going over to air the house some before she starts to work at the South’s.

Rosie runs from the Black’s residence crying with tears running down both checks. She speaks perfect English but will drop back into her native language of Spanish when upset.

Mrs. South asks Rosie as she come through her door, Rosie, what is wrong? Did you hurt yourself?

Dead, dead is the most Mrs. South can get out of her before she starts rapid firing a series of Spanish words.

Mrs. South sets Rosie down and hands her some tissues, I will go over and see what is wrong.

She trots across the street. The front door is partially open.

Mr. Black, Shirley are you home?

She pushes the door open and see the bottom floors are spotless, just as Rosie left them, she goes up-stairs.

In thirty seconds, she runs across the street and grabs the phone. She pounds 9-1-1 on the phone.

    What is your emergency?

Come quick, our neighbor is dead, hurry, hurry.

She slams the phone down. She stands there shaking some and trying to come to terms with what she just saw.

The phone rings and she jumps, Mam, did you just place a phone call to 9-1-1?

Oh yes, hurry, they are dead, the phone is again slammed down.

The call operator has the Commander come over, Sir, this is where we are."

The Commander nods, Send a car out. Write it up from the screen. I doubt you will get more from another call back.

There is a police car within three minutes, and they pull into the South’s driveway. Two officers get out. Mrs. South opens the door before they are halfway up the driveway.

Still shaking she points across the street, Mr. Black is home, dead upstairs. I am not going in there again.

    Thank you, Mam.

Trotting across the street the driver of the patrol car says, You take the back, find a safe place. I will go in the front.

Both officers flip the latch on their revolver’s holster. The officer in the backyard see the door has been broken into. He radios into dispatch that they are at the scene and backup is needed.

Both officers hear on the radios, Officer, backup is on the way.

The front door officer cautiously goes into the front door. The ground floor is spotless, everything is in its place. He goes up stairs with his weapon in hand. The entire house is silent.

In one minute, Patrolman Jones comes out of the house, down the front outside stairs and holsters his sidearm. He calls dispatch while standing at the bottom of the front porch.

"This is Patrolman Samuel Jones, the house is
