About this ebook

A cruise ship dock in Seattle with 2500 passengers and one dead. The Inspector takes the team to the docks followed by the Coroner. They make the death appear to be a sickness to control the press. The victim’s party on the ship was his second wife, his first wife died. Three children ages 32, 29, 22. His partner in the business of 20 years and his wife. Plus a friend of the current wife and a new salesman for his company. This is the first time a non-family member has ever been invited except for the partner and his wife.
The company is nearly $100 million in revenue and the family and partner own shares in it. A share is worth about $150,000 a year and there are 100 shares. The victim in a surprise move on the ship announces again that in 18 months he is retiring,
His Will leaves nothing to the three kids, but they keep their 10% of the shares each of them currently have. The company itself has a 20% share which can be voted by the remaining partner. The two surprise guests each have 5% from the Will. If the three remaining children can turn over the entire Will they will have a major of 60% and own the company. Is any of the kids or as a group able to run the company?
Is it a simple matter of murdering the boss to gain control of the company and nearly $200 million in cash it has? Why two non-family are invited and then given 10% of the company in the Will. Is that enough for murder? The partner has had 20% of the company since they started it. But why never more over the years?
The war room is opened by Inspector Strong, saying this is a tougher case than most. Why did patrolman Jones post Juicy Fruit wrappers to a board in the war room?

    Introducing the Players

Inspector Strong’s badge number is 003.

The Inspector’s name is Strong. Earl Strong, class of 1940, University of Texas. He was a Major in the Military Police. Early 60’s, stands about 5 feet 9 inches, weight 150 pounds, and what’s left of his hair is buzzed into a crew cut. Always with a green 1940’s felt hat, brim bent down in front. A cigar his Dr. says he can chew but not smoke. He is a fishing buddy with the Regional FBI Director, Ted McClearly.

The Inspector oversees the Homicide Division in the police department. This is unusual; the division may have a Captain; usually it would be a Major. An Inspector is more like a Chief than either a Captain or a Major. Inspector Strong sits at the back of the room of the Chief’s meeting with his green felt hat on his lap, no one there has any problem with him in attendance. Most of the Chiefs are dressed in their fancy blues.

Usually his homicide detectives compile the data from the crime scene and then poke it around some. He may read a particularly difficult case to assist them. His case closure for his section is a legend in the entire western half of the country. He has had many job offers to leave, even some at the federal level. His wife will never move and so he stays where he is. Seldom does any case withstand his personal assault for more than several days.

Detective Janette Wanda Rage’s badge number is 7304.

She had been a patrolman for several years. She was the first officer to carry a Colt 45s in the entire police force. The police began reviewing their entire small arms procedure after this. It all came about when patrolman Rage riding as a rookie patrolman became involved with a street gang. The situation got out of control and Internal Affairs stuck their nose in after it was all over. You can understand better what and why she carries a Colt 45 as her standard sidearm after reading the ‘13th Street Gang.’

The rookie homicide Detective Janette Rage has been on the Police force for almost eight years. She is bright, aggressive, and dedicated to the job. She takes
