About this ebook

It is a rare event when it snows even one inch in Seattle. The mountain passes have 40 feet or more at the end of winter. So five inches in downtown Seattle makes one go back decades to find the musty records.
Detective Rage wakes up to five inches and loves it. She has her jeep ready and stops to make a snow man. The trip to work requires she pull a few cars back on the road. Business is slow for the police except for accidents; no one in Seattle can drive in any snow.
Short of staff, Rage is assigned to a robbery of two jewelry store. With no police cars available she drives her jeep with the robbery Detective Johnson. One store was robbed about 4 am and the second store just as he opens before 7 am.
They question the second store manager first. He is surprised they arrived so quickly with all the roads jammed. He can provide little description of the men but a good inventory of what was taken. The manager of the first robbery at 4 am has little information, but the inventory taken.
Rage and Detective Johnson have many questions as they talk it out. “How did the robbers get in and pass Mall cameras and security? Did the hide until the Mall closed, then waited for it to open and leave? Was it the same team in both stores? If so, why wait until the manager opened the second store? Why did they not break in like the first store? Did they hide the gems in the Mall or are they gone?
Rage grins and Johnson nods, “You are thinking what I am? Shall we go do it?”

Meanwhile Patrolman Jones is radioed, “A bank robbery in the Mall is in progress.”
He responds, “I am only a few minutes away, is there any back up?”
“No backup for an hour or more.”
The Captain of Robbery goes up to Rage’s boss, “Our people are down in the Mall and their radios, and all phones are out. This could walk into something and not know.”
Inspector Strong has a special phone to Rage. he provides an update to both Rage and Jones over their special phones. Of course the Captain wants one, he is told, “Don’t ask.”
What does Shirly have to do with the bank robbery, Detective Johnson falling in the fountain’s pond at the Mall, and all three robberies.”

They all three return with prisoners to the police station after all the holdups. The snowstorm becomes a blizzard. The snow is already a foot or more, winds up to 30 mph, electric power goes off, no phone service, temperatures are headed toward 10 below, and there is a white out with the snow and wind. In the station a few people are huddled together but there is no heat and few flashlights.
Will there be more high-end robberies? Will someone be able to destroy evidence in the Evidence Lockup in the basement? Can the officers stay warm with no power and defend the station against an unknow enemy? What good is a Seal of any kind in this weather?
