What is Super Immunity Diet
Super Immunity was popularized by Dr. Joel Fuhrman in his book, Super Immunity, in 2011. The concept is to adopt the nutritarian
2 week diet to boost your body’s immune system. This diet can protect your body against cold and, if eaten in specific combination, can even fight cancer. It can also help in weight loss.
Most modern people’s immune systems are only functioning at half capacity. Furthermore, toxins have built up in our bodies from stress and shifts in hormones. Dr. Joel Fuhrman identifies the proliferation of processed foods and reduction in intake of fruits and vegetables as the main culprit.
He further explains that some foods have significant micronutrients that can impact our immunity. Based on his research on 10,000 clients, Dr Fuhrman has created a simple diet plan based on nutritional value of these food type.
In this immunity diet, intake of eight servings of vegetables is recommended and two of these servings are green vegetables. Eating salads are encouraged as some of the nutrients are lost during cooking.
Other recommended food groups are fruits and protein-rich nuts, seeds, and beans. When eaten together, they are able to boost our body's healing system.
Carbohydrates and meats should be eaten in moderation. Sweets and other processed foods are discouraged as they are 'nutrient-depleting'.
By staying in the super immunity diet, you are helping your body flush out dangerous toxins and to activate your system to achieve super immunity. As a result, you will have more energy, lose some body weight, and live longer.
