Lisa

She was shaking with fear, and wincing in pain as well. In the deepest recesses of her mind, she was dead, but she felt just fine on the outside. Her eyes were still shut tightly. Her hands were strongly wrapped around Jamie.

Jamie!

Her eyes flew open at the possibility of her son being drowned in a pool of his own blood. She would, without doubt, tear Oliver limb from limb if that happened. She watched the baby on her lap. There was no blood on him. Where did the bullets go?

Oliver?

She gasped as she saw his body which had been hurdled on the floor. He seemed lifeless. She was not sure what to do. How did Paul do it? Lisa turned around to see how Paul could have sent Oliver to the ground as Paul was still in chains.

Oliver groaned behind her, and before she could turn to check on him, he pulled her roughly, sending her to the ground. Jamie was slipping out of her hand. Lisa panicked and held tightly to him, turning around to land on her back instead.

Lis! Paul called, lunging forward and stopping Jamie from bouncing off her body.

The family was huddled together now. Oliver towered above them. Lisa watched the rage in his eyes as he pointed the gun at Paul’s head. Lisa watched the fingers circling the trigger. She jerked forward, and kicked him hard with her leg, destabilizing him and sending the gun flying from his hand.

Another gunshot came from the door, and Lisa immediately looked up to see who it was, clutching the gun she’d retrieved from Oliver tightly, ready to shoot if the newcomer was a threat.

She relaxed when she saw Will by the door. Oliver had been hit in his left leg. He was in a corner, groaning in pain. Lisa quickly got up and rushed to free Paul as well as get Jamie, who was wailing loudly now.

Thank God, you guys… Lisa stopped when she saw Adrian behind Courtney. Her anger rose again, and she pointed the gun at him. What is he doing here? she yelled.

Calm down, Lis, he… Courtney started to explain, but Lisa was not hearing anything she had to say. She shot at Adrian’s leg. Will rushed forward and snatched the gun from her.

Stop! he yelled at her.

Lisa scoffed. Will you guys never learn? she yelled back.

Oliver groaned and Adrian rushed to him, hit him on the head, and knocked him out. Lisa glared at him. That was definitely a cheap attempt at getting her to believe he was on their side. If he’d played his role with them a long time ago, and grown a conscience, Jamie would not have been in a position to be kidnapped.

She spat and started out of the house. I need to get my son to safety! she said.

Lis, wait up… Paul chased after her. She was in the car with Paul in a matter of a few strides. The others were still in the building, doing what she cared less about. She turned to Paul
