    Will

He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, passing by some men who were covering for the other running cops. Bodies rained from the sky as many men fell to the ground before him. Will’s heart beat fast. He wondered when he would finally fall in battle. Luck had been on his side for so long.

Mike was running in front of him, with the other men. They were close to their van now. Will breathed with relief as he reached one of the cars, got in, and started the engine. Somehow, he had managed to get past Mike and the other men. Maybe his fear of death had added to his speed.

Get in! Come on! Will called out to them. His heart raced faster as bullets rained on the roof of the car. The men quickly got in. Mike was the last to get in. He had to make sure his men were safe, first. Will thought he would be terrible at playing chess, saving the pawns before the king.

Mike was making a move into the passenger seat of the van when a bullet hit his arm. He winced in pain, getting into the car as quickly as possible. Will turned the van around and drove at an insane speed. Insane was what they needed now. Any more bullets hitting them and the car would burst into flames. Will was sure he wanted his body to look pretty in the coffin.

A bullet hit the window, brushing him lightly on the chin. Will hit the accelerator. That was a close call! He would like to die fighting at least. He chuckled. That was ironic.

How are you doing? Will asked, focusing on the road. Chatting with a friend before death did sound like a nice exit, but he was not ready to leave this earth, yet, so…

Three bullets hit the windscreen of the car, and Will felt the adrenaline rush as he roughly pulled the car into the major road. Mike was calling for backup from the state, and Will imagined he could hear the incoming craft from their side of the camp.

He was right. The sky filled with fighter jets, and Will had to maneuver through the chaos above them. They were out of danger in seconds. A deep sigh left his lips and he turned to Mike. The latter was relieved as well.

A commotion stirred behind them as a gunshot rang out in the car. Will was confused. He halted and turned around. Three of the cops behind them had died, and a sturdy fellow froze at gunpoint.

Mike groaned. Will turned to him. He saw the bullet hole in his chest. A terrified gasp fell from Will’s lips and he rushed forward and held him tight.

Someone call the medics! Will yelled. A cop got to place the call. Will turned and glared at the infiltrator.

How the hell did he get here? he lamented. A cop took over the steering while Will glided over to Mike’s seat and tried to help him stop the
