"You need to calm down, Lis!’ Quin was yelling now. Lisa was hysterical and Quin couldn’t blame her for that.  She had to be calm, regardless, if they were going to think of a way to get out of this mess.

Wha… what? Lisa laughed sarcastically. The pain in her laughter was glaringly obvious too. "You actually want me to relax, Duchess?" her sarcasm was increasing.

Yes, relax! Screaming at the top of our voice won’t solve anything! Quin was aware of the other pair of eyes fixed on her, staring in disbelief as she spoke with Lisa.

Lisa walked over to an empty seat, slumped into it, and started wailing.

Nice try, Marija whispered to Quin as she walked past her to where Lisa was sitting.

Quin shook her head. Why was everyone treating her like she was the insensitive one? They were at war, and everyone knew that was not the time for complaining and lamenting, but a time to think of solutions and getting out of their problems.

She started toward Lisa. Everyone was around her now, comforting her. Quin understood this grief. The one of having your child in danger, although she never experienced it that way. As she moved toward the party, she thought of a way to try and make Lisa see her point.

Lis, I get what you are going through… Quin didn’t know if that was the way to go, but she had already started.

You do? Lisa had not let go of the sarcasm. You have had your only child kidnapped and on the verge of being killed?

The attention shifted from Lisa to her. Quin felt a little too noticed. She did not like it. No one was saying anything either, and she also did not like that. Marija was the only one who was not surprised. She knew already.

To the Hornets also, Quin added. The silence grew heavier. She sighed and walked back to her seat. This was not what she’d planned. Now, it looked like she was stealing Lisa’s thunder; it was not even good thunder. Damn it!

I’m so sorry… Lisa muttered.
