Synopsis

Despite her dreams, things don’t get easier for Evelyn, even though she decided to abandon whatever feelings of responsibility she has toward her family, to love herself, and also allow the man she loves to love her. However, that love life is rocked when she learns that her father still owes the Hornet’s gang some money and that they’re after her now. As if that’s not enough, her father hints that her mother’s death might not have been an accident as they’d always thought. Now, more than ever, Will has to be there for the woman he loves. He must do everything possible to get her away from the trouble she’s found herself in, even though it means getting caught up in Evelyn’s entanglement with her father’s crime buddies. Getting entangled in her father’s mess only means he’s inviting trouble to himself. But Will’s too blinded by love to see that until it’s too late.

Evelyn

I’ve always wanted to fall in love with a man who truly loves me. Now, that’s happened with Will, but I can’t seem to enjoy it. When my father calls me to tell me the Hornets gang is still after me because he still owes them some money after Will helped him out, I’m mad, but that doesn’t compare to the devastation that follows when he tells me my mom’s death might not have been an accident after all. Despite all this, Will doesn’t leave my side for a second, proving he’s everything I’d ever wanted and more. Suddenly, my youngest sister returns home, and she couldn’t have picked a worse time. Now, I have to worry about a loved one getting caught up in my father’s mess. But I may have been worrying about the wrong loved one.

Will

Will heaved a sigh as he sat up in bed and watched Evelyn hurriedly put some clothes on. From where he sat, he could make out the cusps of her breasts from the side as she fit her arms into a white top she’d hurriedly grabbed from his wardrobe. As she put it on, Will swung his legs off the bed and got to his feet. The floorboards felt a bit chilly under his feet as he pattered over to her with a bare torso and black briefs. He embraced her from behind, and stooping a little, inhaled the fruity fragrance of the shampoo she’d used. It was his, but he loved it better on her.

You don’t have to leave in a hurry, you know, he said, planting kisses on her neck.

Evelyn placed a hand on his arm and leaned into his chest.

I don’t want to, she said, but I have to.

I think you’re rushing into this, and you’re not really thinking clearly.

She made a sound which came off like a whimper. Then she turned around and faced him; her eyes were brown pools of emotions. Will could see the uncertainty in them, but most importantly, the fear, and he felt a rage sweep up inside him. Just when he thought Evelyn had finally liberated herself from that bastard of a father, this had to come out of the blue.

You know you can’t go rushing in there, Will insisted, poring into her eyes. I don’t want you to.

Will, it’s my mother. He said there was something I was supposed to know about her death. I can’t just stay here.
