Recapturing THE PAST
If Sylvie hadn’t been searching for the old lounge curtains up in the loft, she would never have found it. The chocolate box was heart-shaped and tied with a red ribbon, and, as soon as she saw it, her pulse quickened.
She picked it up, blew the dust off it and untied the ribbon. As she took the lid off, the letters tumbled out. The ink on the envelopes was faded, but just as illegible as ever. Dear old Rob!
She picked up the top one, took the letter out and unfolded it…
‘My darling, I can’t sleep for thinking of you. I can still smell your perfume on my shirt. You looked beautiful tonight in your blue velvet dress, your skin was so soft…’
Sylvie smiled. She remembered that date and that dress – it had cost her most of her first pay packet. But the look on Rob’s face when he saw her had told her it had been worth every penny.
