Hey there, my wise friend and a warm welcome to Collective Wisdom. I received a lovely email from my friend Adana on a queasy yesterday. She shared a quote from the poet Mary Oliver that really resonated, “joy is not made to be a crumb”. And as a result I discovered the poem called, Don't Hesitate, which contains such a poignant message for a time when the world feels so broken.
 
If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don't hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty
of lives and whole towns destroyed or about
to be. We are not wise, and not very often
kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this
is its way of fighting back, that sometimes
something happens better than all the riches
or power in the world. It could be anything,
but very likely you notice it in the instant
when love begins. Anyway, that's often the
case. Anyway, whatever it is, don't be afraid
of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.
 
 
That brings me on to my guest this week, Evelyne Brink who is also a writer and a singer. And she now uses everything she's learned on her incredible journey through life, to help others access the performer inside of them and have a greater impact. Evelyne has an infectious energy that tells me she's very good at accessing joy. She shares a lot of wisdom, but her final message that we come from love, we go back to love, and we are love, and in fact that humans are the only species to generate love. Really seems to be on the cards for today. And what Mary Oliver was saying is that if we take a moment to notice it, that moment when love begins, is always a moment of pure joy. Certainly, my time spent with Evelyne sharing stories brought me a lot of joy, and I hope you'll find the same
