Isolde, newly coronated queen, has finally found a king worthy of her in the vampire Adrian. But their love for each other has cost Isolde her father and her homeland. With two opposing goddesses playing mortals and vampires like chess pieces against one another, Isolde is uncertain who her allies are in the vampire stronghold of Revekka.

Now, as politics in the Red Palace grow more underhanded and a deadly blood mist threatens all of Cordova, Isolde must trust in the bond she's formed with Adrian, even as she learns troubling information about his complicated past.

Contains mature themes.

Editor's Note

A best romance of 2022…

Queen Isolde and King Adrian’s love (and lust) has only intensified since Isolde’s father turned his back on her for marrying a vampire. As political and mystical threats loom closer, Isolde must trust Adrian wholeheartedly, even though he’s carrying a terrible secret. The second book in St. Clair’s “Adrian X Isolde” series, following “King of Battle and Blood,” was named among Barnes & Noble’s best romance novels of 2022. Mature themes apply.

Once again I love the story Scarlett gives us but I could do with less spicy. I understand that's my personal opinion and others will enjoy that and it's also how she deals with trauma. I just enjoy more story than spicy in my books.

Now, this one definitely is a build up book. It's giving us just a little bit here and there making your mind work and hold on to see what's going to happen, between the shape shifting, killing and back stabbing you understand why our blood king is the way he is.

I also wish we got more from his P.O.V. just something about Scarlett's male povs that has a spot in my heart.

I know I will absolutely read the next one because I need some answers!

I really liked this book! It was a tad confusing sometimes with the flash backs but otherwise I really loved it. Adrian and Isode's love story is so romantic and tragic... I hope it all works out! I can't wait for the next book

Complete waist of time. Awful writing, weird dialogs. the story doesn't make sense.

I liked the first book but was hoping for something different in this one. Isolde is annoying as hell. Spoiled brat of a princess/queen. NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE A FIGHT. She causes so much of her suffering. And I'm so sick of the "my people" and the word said. There are other ways to say that. Replied, answered, responded. There were also tons of things left open. Which got annoying. I don't know if I'll read the third book.
I also figured out who the betrayer in the inner circle was pretty early.
