About this audiobook

USA Today bestselling author, Ella Fields, delivers a heart-wrenching tale of impossible yet unstoppable love in this all-new standalone enemies to lovers fantasy romance.

The king of wolves was more beast than man, more tyrant than king, and so much more than he seemed.
Raised to avenge his murdered parents, he’d been trained and conditioned until nothing but violence and hatred lined the walls of his dead heart.

For nearly four years, I’d done all I could to help my kingdom as we faced the wolf king’s unconquerable evil—hardly anything at all.
As the only heir to the Gracewood line, I’d been relegated to menial tasks that would keep me and my secrets safe.

A chance to do more than fret behind our castle walls arrived when I breached them after overhearing my parents’ plans for my future. Fleeing, I unknowingly raced into a fate we’d all desperately hoped to avoid.

By the time I saw him coming, it was far too late. For my family. For my kingdom.
For my heart.
Before I could staunch the bleeding, the king had me under his giant paw, and one wrong move after another caused those razor-sharp claws to sink deeper and deeper beneath my bruised skin.

I might have been trapped, naïve, and furious, but I still had a kingdom to save—and a plan.
Yet when we collided, the bloodshed, the fear, his atrocities... all of it dissolved like stardust upon the night sea.

The stars had mapped out our destiny, but it didn’t matter what they or my heart wanted.
I refused to see the enigmatic male, the heartless lost boy with a soul beneath the flesh of a monster.
The savage king who’d destroyed everything I loved would fall—even if my heart fell with him.

Inspired by Hades and Persephone, Rumpelstiltskin, and The Swan Princess, The Savage and the Swan is not connected to any other Ella Fields novel. It’s a full-length standalone romantic fantasy.

The book itself would be 5 stars for me but the male voice actor didn’t fit great for me. A fab enemies to lovers book filled with great fantasy vibes.

The story is great but the male voice is terrible . Doesn’t fit a young character at all. Sounds like a 60 year old man. I got the physical book instead. Can’t listen to this ?

The book is great, the male voice is horrid. I can’t finish it until I get ahold of the ebook. Good news is that you have until chapter 12 before they hit you with that.

The savage and the swan started out interesting but once the male voice was added into the story it didn't do it for me.

I don't know how the male narrator was allowed to be in this. literally skipped every chapter with his POV. it should be scrubbed and republished with a new narrator that doesnt cause me to need my antiemetic when I hear his voice.

I’ve read this book before a long time ago and liked it. However, the male narrators voice ruined the audio version for me. He actually has a wonderful reading voice, it just didn’t match the character in this story at all. His sounds old with an English accent while the character forming in my head for the Blood King was young and menacing. It bothered me so much I couldn’t finish it. I will say, the story is worth reading. I just suggest getting the written version instead of the audio.

I wish I had checked the reviews before starting this - i was really getting into the book when the male narrators part started, and then I just couldn't bring myself to continue. He sounded way older than how I had visualised the character and I couldn't continue.

This book gave me ACOTAR vibes with the the swan princess and rumpelstiltskin mixed in. I really enjoyed it I just wasn’t a fan of the males voice reading. It just wasn’t what I was expecting and threw me off.

The male narrator is cringey. Way too old for the character he’s supposed to be and it detracts from the story at times.

Loved the book itself but the male actors voice was terrible! The narrator sounded like he was 60 and just horrible voice and accent that didn’t go with the male character in the book!

The story is great, but the male voice is horrible, the male narrator is too old for this book .
PS: Is sounds like Gilbert Gottfried ??

Loved the story! but the male narrator (sorry eeekk) was just NOT IT. It was so awkward and off putting. Like listening to a senior citizen that was being so extra (nothing wrong with seniors narrating-just a diff genre tsk tsk) The sex scenes in his voice were so cringe, maybe it’s just not my cup of tea -although I doubt it. I don’t know why this has such a low rating, doesn’t make sense.

**Oh and I wish I knew to listen/read this before I read/heard the Wolf— book, they are standalones but this happens before and I already knew how things would turn out in the end due to learning bits of the story from there.

If you’re going to use a male voice actor with an accent, your female voice actor should also use an accent

The male voice was ancient hhahahha. Made the smut scenes hilarious when he was voicing the female leads responses. The book was okay.

I literally think the male narrator almost ruined this book for me. I literally had to read those chapters because I couldn’t stay interested with his voice!

Other than that it’s a very good book ?

I want to rate this higher because I really loved the story, but the narration, as many people have said, is so strange! I just don't understand the choice that was made for the male narrator! He sounds old and has a strange accent that doesn't fit the character at all. I had to fight to not be pulled out of the story any time the pov switched. I think it would be much better to read the story instead of listening to this audio book.

if i didn't listen to the audiobook version i feel like i would have liked this book much more but the difference from the female and male narrator was so drastic that it felt like it wasn't a part of the same book. the female narrator was really great and it fit the book very well but the male narrator had a completely different accent and very exaggerated narration that in my opinion did not fit or compliment the other narrator or the book at all. it made the book sound like a children's book..
would definitely have given the book another couple of stars if it wasn't for the messy narration
over all the story reminded me of the cruel prince and was really good. but i think this book really needs to redo the narration

I had to DNF as the make voice was too old, not at all like someone in their 30s, over exaggerated and did not fit the story. It's a shame as the story was actually good but I found him really jarring

I feel like while the descriptions for the surroundings were good, it lacked huge parts of the plot. I feel like the FMC was just naive and I just couldn’t feel sympathy for her.

I’m just going to have to read this instead of listening- as many others have pointed out- the male narrator … not a fit for this at all, and just cringe inducing.

    Dnf after getting to ch18

    I loved the book...
But I had to go to the ebook to read all of Dade's chapters. The male voice did not fit with the character at all and would have killed it for me, I believe. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

Amazing!!!! I was hesitant to listen because the cover was not too appealing, but this book is amazing!!!! Just listen to it! The male narrator was abit off, sounded old for the character for some reason. But the story is a great page turner

Wtf?! How did Jeeves get cast as the MC? That was the wildest narrator transition I've ever experienced. I thought it was going to be one of those intros where the old, uppy, butler like character sets the scene before the MC starts to narrate. But then, no, it was our guy. I absolutely can not finish this. Ill be finishing with the ebook. Good for the first 11ish chapters, though!

The book is great. The female narrator is very good. But the male narrator is the worst! How annoying! Sounds like a drunkard. Very off-putting.

The male narrator is not that bad. A ton of reviews say his voice is a deal breaker, but it's not that bad. Not great by any means, but come on people. The story itself was pretty good. Less trite than most.

It’s a step above basic fairy romance, it gets the job done. But the male narrator is awful. Still, despite this, I enjoyed it.
