About this audiobook
As a princess in the impoverished kingdom of Delantria, it’s Aldari’s job to look pretty, speak little, and marry a prince.
Studying mathematics and writing papers on economic theory in an effort to fix her people’s financial woes? Her father has forbidden it. With war on the horizon, they must focus on the immediate threat.
Reluctantly, Aldari agrees to marry a prince in a neighboring kingdom to secure an alliance her people desperately need. All is going to plan until the handsome elven mercenary captain hired to guard her marriage caravan turns into her kidnapper. His people are in trouble, and he believes she has the knowledge to help.
But with an invasion force approaching Delantria, Aldari’s own people need her. She must do everything in her power to escape the elves and make it to her wedding in time.
Never mind that her kidnapper is witty, clever, and offers her a challenge that intrigues her mind even as his easy smile intrigues her heart…
Aldari can’t let herself develop feelings for him. To fall in love and walk away from her wedding would mean the end of her kingdom and everyone she cares about.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5O carte care m-a impresionat deși am inceput-o cu scepticism. Mi-a înșelat așteptările intr-un mod surprinzător de plăcut. Ușor de citit sau de ascultat, amuzanta și în același timp tensionată. O recomand cu drag!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed the book I enjoyed the reading that's really hard for me to say because most readers lose me about halfway through the book so congratulations to the reader for holding my attention but the book was very interesting she was very captivating I found the the the woman to be very very interesting throughout the whole book her interesting parts her interesting and her love for the for the prince was very delicately written and I enjoyed it

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The story in general was engaging and kept me interested and the narrator was great at subtly changing her voice to portray different characters without making the males sound ridiculous like some audios in the romance genre tend to (though I still would prefer an actual male voice for the hero’s). The story is extremely light on even kissing so if your looking for smut this isn’t a book for you. It really also is more of a fantasy adventure inclined to romance, than a strict romance in a fantasy setting. This freed it from some problems inherent in the romance genre, like premature attraction, but honestly let me down a little in the romance. I wasn’t reading for lewd details but was disappointed there wasn’t really a whole lot of steam and left me with an unsatisfying ending that implied steam to come one the book ended. But the characters are charming and likable and made me want them to succeed, to the point I was able to latch on to their mission far more than disappointed in the near lack of romantic tension. The only other major problem that irked me with the story was the major “twist” secret that the hero had was evident to the reader by about the fifth chapter of the book. It made me wonder how the main character who is supposed to be a perceptive mathematical genius who is able to figure out things other smart people can’t see and a princess who is trained politically, somehow can’t put any of the many clues dropped together to figure out that the hero was much more than he seemed to be. Also that she couldn’t figure out the political advantages for helping the elves probably far outweighed that the ally she would have made with her arranged marriage but somehow she writes papers on economics? It wasn’t enough to make me stop listening but it was enough to suspend my disbelief at times and give me some frustration. This and the books confusion as to whether it’s primarily fantasy adventure or romance is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is the story of a young woman who falls in love with the man who kidnapped her. I had trouble getting past that part. It's also solidly YA. Great narration though.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Is so annoying after every word is says Aldari ! I can’t listen to it , this author has no clue how to make a third-person point of view book
Ps : dear author there’s no need to say the character’s name after every word she or he is saying we are not that stupid and can fallow the course of action1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I honestly don't know if I can find the right words to describe how wonderful this book was. The story, the banter, everything was great. Finished it in two days!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The ending wasn't enough for me. If I had been through the whole ordeal that Aldari had, I would want to be naked in bed with the Elf who saved me for at least a week! And seriously, don't elude to a kiss...I NEED tongue action, kisses down the neck, more smut!!!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wonderfully fascinating book I like the fact that is a standalone so that you're not having to search around for another grandmother book even though I could use use another book with some of the characters in it

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5**Spoilers**
Absolutely loved this book and appreciate the vocabulary and complexity of the mathematical explanations in her writing. I wish it was a duology, the ending had me wanting more from the story! I want the love story of Hawk and Aldari and to see how the Elven world rebuilds now that they’re not under constant threat from the twisted. It was interesting to see the two worlds coexisting and were only separated by a river. Most Faerie books I’ve read, have the realms separated by magic. Loved it. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5If Blood and Ash is HBO this is Hallmark. I found myself saying GET ON WITH IT often. I wish I could like the characters more. The bodyguard is awful. She is useless and negative Nancy. Throughout things that could have been explored weren't while other things didn't need explanation, and still other things were so poorly placed. Don't get me started on the hospital visit. GET. ON. WITH. IT. I wanted to like this and could see it being a really cute and fun read. It became a test of patience like dealing with a 12 yo girl who is having a bad hair day. get... on... with... it...
The narration was decent and did the best she could with the material she was given. Her male voices could use some work. For me a good female narrator can make you forget her male voices aren't men and she was good but I didn't forget. 3.5/5 for the narration. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was a fairly decent stand-alone book. The author uses very beautiful language and imagery to really draw you into the story. The narrator did a great job with the character voices, and was delightful to listen to. The plot, itself, wasn't the greatest, though, the character development felt lackluster, and the relationship developments weren't exactly believable. While I found the book under "fantasy romance", it's little more than the story of a school-girl crush. I like a romance with a few good "action" scenes, and this one has zero. [SPOILERS] The whole reasoning behind the need to kidnap the princess seems quite asinine. The fae realm is plagued for centuries by this terrible evil, that seems akin to zombies, and can only be saved by a princess who happens to be good at solving puzzles?!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The book is well written, the problem is again the human female, leads thay are shown to be useless as most humans would be, it's a specise failure again. Elf and human or human and any other species, show humans the one's that always need resquing and protecting. It's accurate but disappointed to find it in every book all the same. How can human figure out a puzzle that many scientist and mathmaticions can't that is silly.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Spoiler free details: Spice level 0, angst level 10. MC is a white het girl in her early 20s. Set in a lord of the rings type world but very little detail or rules are discussed regarding magic systems. Very unique conflict and resolution, but pg-13 imo. Standalone and easy to listen to straight through, the narration was good, but I felt there were a couple times when high emotions were portrayed more calmly than intended.
Slightly spoilery: the MC love interest has the same name and job (sort of) as the love interest in a very very popular book series, so despite the many differences, I felt like that was interesting. Not sure which came first, don’t care enough to check. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was so fun!!! The heroine was adorable and the hero? Goodness!! Great relationship. Fun side characters! So much adventure. And a lovely dose of magic.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was good book and a good adventure must read or listen, and no smut yes I like the smut books but it's nice change in between bucks
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved the premise and Lindsay Buroker’s genius way of bringing a story to life and keeping my attention through the whole story. I hate that I listened so quickly because I didn’t want it to end. Glad to know that the Princess Paradigm continues in elf land.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this story. I wish this was a series but it’s enough story to just be a standalone. I hear she’s writing more books based on this world. I’m going to look and see if I can find more from this author, she does write series. Again, I was surprised how much I liked this and I would listen to it again.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Nice story. From a kidnapped princess to an elf princess whose ally saved her kingdom
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A good book but the ending was a let down. Everything wrapped up very quickly and neatly but it definitely wasn’t enough for me. Left me wanting way more than what we were given.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Story was interesting, but their were silent spots in the audio.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Book was pretty predictable for the most part, follows the hero’s journey. Cute premise altogether
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I never imagined historical fantasy stories of elvish and human kingdoms using words like “smooching” and “noshing”. I cringed a LOT listening to this book.
