About this audiobook
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes the next novel in her Blood and Ash series…
Is Love Stronger Than Vengeance?
A Betrayal…
Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.
A Choice….
Casteel Da’Neer is known by many names and many faces. His lies are as seductive as his touch. His truths as sensual as his bite. Poppy knows better than to trust him. He needs her alive, healthy, and whole to achieve his goals. But he’s the only way for her to get what she wants—to find her brother Ian and see for herself if he has become a soulless Ascended. Working with Casteel instead of against him presents its own risks. He still tempts her with every breath, offering up all she’s ever wanted. Casteel has plans for her. Ones that could expose her to unimaginable pleasure and unfathomable pain. Plans that will force her to look beyond everything she thought she knew about herself—about him. Plans that could bind their lives together in unexpected ways that neither kingdom is prepared for. And she’s far too reckless, too hungry, to resist the temptation.
A Secret…
But unrest has grown in Atlantia as they await the return of their Prince. Whispers of war have become stronger, and Poppy is at the very heart of it all. The King wants to use her to send a message. The Descenters want her dead. The wolven are growing more unpredictable. And as her abilities to feel pain and emotion begin to grow and strengthen, the Atlantians start to fear her. Dark secrets are at play, ones steeped in the blood-drenched sins of two kingdoms that would do anything to keep the truth hidden. But when the earth begins to shake, and the skies start to bleed, it may already be too late.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow! This was so good! Narrator was amazing as well. It had a Greek sense to it mixed with vampires and werewolf.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Well, this doesn't make any sense. There's no plot, there's no twists. The only thing good is that it made me laugh

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’m so confused with this series. Is it well written? Absolutely not. I will be on my death bed and the only thing I will remember is that Casteel smells of spice, pine, and citrus. This book is way to heavy on the angst, foreshadowing is odd, super gruesome at times for seemingly no reason.
That said, I can’t get enough and will be immediately binging the third book. Their chemistry is off the charts, the plot is thick, and rich, and surprising, and beautiful.1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good with a frustrating ridiculous amount of filler inner monologue.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’m interested in where the plot is leading, but I hated the constant misunderstand/miscommunication trope. I’m not a fan of the trope but this book took it a step further by making it the main plot point until chapter 35 and even then not completely out of the book till chapter 40! It was infuriating! I like the last 5 chapters enough to read the next book, but only just.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Riveting and compelling as the excellent story continues to unfold. The characters are intense and complex and multi layered. And the story itself is even more intriguing. This is an excellent literary achievement, that I believe will stand the test of time. This is a must read if you are a fan of sci-fi/fantasy epic tales! I highly recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely loved the book and the narrator is amazing!! The series starts slow but it gets so dang good!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love this series and would definitely recommend it. The narrator is also very good.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5it just keeps getting better and better, plot twist after plot twist.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5You always have questions !!!
Now I have questions !!! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Just keeps getting better and better. Great plot line not the same as so many others I've listened to or read I just love it
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Came across by accident. I can’t put it down now. OBSESSED
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I think this narrator does a great job, and HOLY COW, that ending was bonkers!!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was okay but definitely could have been shorter. Meh.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I actually enjoyed the second book better than the first!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Only gets a 4 because parts of the romance seemed overly drawn out and sometimes juvenile, which may be in alignment with her being 18.
Otherwise I couldn't stop listening! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Interesting story. Same as the rest of the sagas in this style:
- Interesting plot.
- Various kinds and species of characters.
- Romance bordering on pedofilia (teenage girl with a man of several centuries who still behaves like a man in his early 20s).
- Hot and spicy sex.
- Political intrigue.
- Magic of some sort or form.
- Oh so much adventure.
I am quickly moving to the next book :)
