The heart is a battlefield.
All Talasyn has ever known is the Hurricane Wars. Growing up an orphan in a nation under siege by the ruthless Night Emperor, she found her family among the soldiers who fight for freedom. But she is hiding a deadly secret: light magic courses through her veins, a blazing power believed to have been wiped out years ago that can cut through the Night Empire’s shadows.
Prince Alaric, the emperor’s only son and heir, has been tasked with obliterating any threats to the Night Empire’s rule with the strength of his armies and mighty shadow magic. He discovers the greatest threat yet in Talasyn: a girl burning brightly on the battlefield with the magic that killed his grandfather, turned his father into a monster, and ignited the Hurricane Wars. He tries to kill her, but in a clash of light and dark, their powers merge and create a force the likes of which has never been seen.
This war can only end with them. But an even greater danger is coming, and the strange magic they can create together could be the only way to overcome it. Talasyn and Alaric must decide… are they fated to join hands, or destroy each other?
An exquisite fantasy brimming with unforgettable characters and sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance set in a richly drawn world, The Hurricane Wars marks the breathtaking debut of an extraordinary new writer.

Reviews for The Hurricane Wars
102 ratings4 reviews
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Captivating, slow burn romance, can recomend for long winter afternoons
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Complex political situation, Scifi meets fantasy, great romance. Only negative: aside from the two main characters you don't develop close attachment to any other character, but that doesn't take away from how fun and action packed the series are
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was on the fence about reading this book but wow!!! I am sooooo glad that I did.
If you’re hesitating and not sure if you should read it or not : DO IT!! READ IT!!! I promise you won’t regret it. It’s romance fantasy/ romantasy, slow-burn, arranged marriage (political alliance), Amazing world building and magic system. It’s definitely both a fantasy book AND a Romance book- one doesn’t take away from the other. It’s a dual POV, switching back and forth more frequently (between the two MCs) towards the middle.
I can’t wait for the next book to come out- but there are no release dates anywhere yet :(1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Slow plot, slow burn. Characters seemed more like 16 year olds, not adults. Spice: descriptive but didn't go far. Book honestly could have been half the size to a third. Expected huge plot twist at the end by the build up and was severely disappointed
Storyline is interesting and I will probably read the second book.
