Description

On this week’s episode Amy and Aly talk about one of Amy’s favorite topics, mental toughness. They both share what mental toughness means to them, and some of the skills they keep in their mental toolbox to pull out when things get hard. Both have found success in encouraging others along the way in a race.  Amy's go-to strategy in training and racing is repeating various mantras (such as 'Easy speed'), whereas Aly reminds herself of similar sets she’s succeeded at before.  They agree that with the right tools, even in the middle of a race that’s not going as planned, you can turn your mindset from “I can’t do this'’ to “I AM doing this!”. They compare common mental/breathing strategies used in labor and how those types of strategies can be applied to racing and training, and talk about the importance of practicing mental toughness skills just as you would practice nutrition going into race day. The episode finishes with their Go Mamas of the Week.
